Prioritise purchase of products from local, sustainable sources

 

Aswan University prioritizes purchasing products from local and sustainable sources, and put this as a condition in the policy we put for sustainable food the contract and provision of food and products from providers outsourced the University.

The university did not stop at external service providers only, as the Faculty of Agriculture at Aswan University established infrastructure and capabilities that make the university depend on its internal food capabilities and not only external.

Forms of these capabilities are:

  • Planting (8) greenhouses for the production of (okra – zucchini – strawberry – cucumber – pepper) in the faculty farm outside the university
  • Planting (7) acres of fruit (grapes – mango, Kate / Nayomi) in the faculty farm outside the university.
  • Planting half an acre with different varieties of fruit as student model .
  • Allocating (9) acres for animal and poultry production as an educational research farm. They aims at providing production to serve the local market in Aswan Governorate in the faculty farm at Aneiba.
