It contains <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/central-restaurant\/\">sustainable food choices<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span> Special Conference Meals have been provided to visitors including vegetarian and vegan food.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Aswan University has improved a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/about\/policies-and-strategies-aswu\/sustainable-food-provision-policy\/\">Policy<\/a> <\/span><\/strong><\/span>to end hunger. Therefore, Aswan University is committed to provide sustainable food and address students and staff needing this support <span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">according to<b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/University-Council-Decisions-21-23-24-meals-price.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><b><u>University Council Decisions for several academic years; 2020-2021 &amp; 2022-2023 &amp; 2023-2024<\/u><\/b>.<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Aswan University always strives to harness all its capabilities to achieve sustainable food self-sufficiency to meet the needs of students, staff, faculty and the local community, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/about\/organizational-structure\/education-and-student-affairs-sector\/university-hostel-administration\/nutrition-administration\/nutrition\/food-security\/food-security-program\/the-capabilities-and-infrastructure-for-the-purpose-of-research-and-experiments-for-the-faculty-of-agriculture-and-natural-resources\/\">through plant, animal, poultry and fish production farms<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span>. The university sells the products of these farms to students, staff and university employees. These products are also used in the food production process in the central restaurant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The College of Agriculture has established several research units, such as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/bakery-unit\/\">the bakery<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span>, dairy, and oil presses unit that depend on the seeds of oily, aromatic and medicinal crops.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The university also has a &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/achievements-of-research-unit-for-the-study-of-tropical-plants\/\">Research unit for studying tropical plants<\/a>&#8220;<\/span><\/strong><\/span> that works to produce new strains of plants that are resistant to harsh climatic conditions, according to the dry desert nature of Aswan Governorate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Aswan University has established the &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/fish-hatchery-at-the-faculty-of-fish-and-fisheries-technolog\/\">Fish Hatchery project<\/a>&#8220;<\/span><\/strong><\/span> for the Faculty of Fisheries and Fisheries Technology, where this project supports the fish farming process to help increase the proportion of fisheries and provide a permanent source of sustainable food within the university and the outside community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">In December 2020, the university launched <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/hangamelha-we-will-beautify-it-initiative\/\">Hangamelha \u201cWe Will Beautify It\u201d initiative<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span> which began its activities on December 3, 2020, with the aim of increasing the percentage of green spaces in Aswan, as well as developing awareness among university students of the importance of trees and preserving the environment. It is an important source of sustainable food resources with an economic return and has the ability to face climate changes, rationalize water use and replace these trees (lemon, olive and orange) with wooden trees that consume large amounts of water and without an economic return. Through this initiative, 1,100 fruitful lemon trees, vegetables and fruits were planted at Aswan University. Where the university reclaimed the farm of the Faculty of Agriculture on the airport road on an area of 52 acres to grow palm trees, grapes and some medicinal plants, and planted 9 acres of lemon and orange trees to fill the shortage of these fruits. In addition to several sections for the cultivation of palm trees, grapes and high-quality mangoes on an area of \u200b\u200b3 acres of different types of mangoes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Aswan University also presents the \u201cfood options\u201d available on campus, and it shows all the \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/about\/organizational-structure\/education-and-student-affairs-sector\/university-hostel-administration\/nutrition-administration\/nutrition\/sustainable-healthy-food-choices\/\">sustainable and healthy food<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u201d options that are available.
