\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Decent Life initiative endorsed by H.E President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, with the main objective of improving the quality of life in the poorest rural communities within the framework of the Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt Vision 2030, through decreasing multidimensional poverty and unemployment rates. This is within a framework of integration and joining forces among the state institutions, private sector entities, civil society and development partners in Egypt. It is a huge shared responsibility among these different parties to provide a decent life to Egyptian citizens, especially vulnerable groups.<\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0It is worth mentioning that this initiative has contributed to mitigating the negative impacts of COVID-19 through improving the standards of living conditions of the most in need groups. While providing job opportunities through supporting SMEs. The goals of this initiative are to be achieved through:<\/span>
\n\u2981 Providing decent housing.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Providing water and sanitation for deprived families.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Providing medical and educational services.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Establishing micro-projects for those most in need.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Providing in-kind support periodically to most in need families.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\u2981 Neediest families in rural communities<\/span>
\n\u2981 Seniors<\/span>
\n\u2981 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)<\/span>
\n\u2981 Female breadwinners and divorced women<\/span>
\n\u2981 Orphans and Children<\/span>
\n\u2981 Unemployed youth<\/span>
\n\u2981 Volunteers<\/span><\/p>\n

Pillars of Work:<\/span><\/span>
\n\u2981 Improving living-standards and investing in human capital.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Developing infrastructure services.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Raising the quality of human development services.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Economic development. Specially, it provides poorest villages with increased access to the basic services such as: health, education, water and sanitation\u2026etc.<\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In January 2019, the first phase was launched targeting to cover 375 villages across Egypt. By launching the second phase, in January 2021, the number of targeted villages increased to 1500, with the number of beneficiaries representing 20% of the overall Egyptian population.<\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The initiative comes as an affirmation of the state’s willingness to implement the participatory planning approach through integrating citizens in the need\u2019s identification stage, along with the government and civil society’s participation in the implementation and monitoring process.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aswan University\u2019s Key Role:<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Aswan University plays a pivotal role as a key partner in the \u201cDecent Life\u201d presidential initiative, through several meaningful insights and practical ways to improve the quality of life in the poorest rural communities through:<\/span>
\n\u2981 Identifying Problems and challenges in the rural communities in the City of Aswan.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Conducting studies, analyzes and developments related to the local rural communities, for example:<\/span>
\n\u2981 Addressing the causes and potential solutions of the groundwater problem in \u201cKustul\u201d village in Nasr El-Nuba.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Addressing the causes and potential solutions of water leakage and accumulation on roads in Abu Al-Rish and High Dam regions. <\/span>
\n\u2981 Implementation of scientific, medical, veterinary, agriculture, and other convoys in various fields.<\/span>
\n\u2981 Execute Educational and outreach programs.<\/span><\/p>\n
