The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and Aswan Governor Maj. General Ahmed Ibrahim witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), represented by the Information Technology Institute (ITI), and Aswan University.\u00a0The aim is to establish an ITI branch to develop the skills of students and graduates of Aswan University and the surrounding governorates as well as qualifying them for the labor market within the dedicated area for establishing the training and technological innovation complex in Aswan University.<\/span><\/p>\n

The protocol was signed by ITI Chairwoman Dr. Heba Saleh and the President of Aswan University Prof. Ahmed Gallab. In this regard, minister Amr Talaat stated that eight ITI branches will be established in different governorates.<\/span><\/p>\n

For his part, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Ibrahim declared that Aswan has dedicated five thousand meters for the new ITI branch. Prof. Amr Talaat, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Ibrahim and Dr. Heba Saleh inspected a group of specialized laboratories that support <\/span>the electronics industry inside the university. This comes as part of <\/span>the MCIT initiative to establish 13 specialized laboratories to train students and graduates in Aswan.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the inauguration, Prof. Amr Talaat stated that MCIT is keen on creating an enabling environment for the development of the <\/span>electronics industry and supporting research and development activities in this industry. This comes in light of the presidential initiative \u201cEgypt Manufactures Electronics\u201d. It aims at promoting the design and manufacture of electronics through increasing the local component in electronics and doubling the number of their exports in Egypt, as well as preparing young qualified cadre.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The initiative to establish electronic laboratories at the universities comes as part of the ITI role to develop human resources to support Engineering students in manufacturing electronics. This involves fields of Integrated Circuit (IC) design, Integrated Systems Design (ISD), and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design. A group of faculties <\/span>has benefited from the initiative, such as the Faculty of Engineering in Cairo, Alexandria, Ain Shams, Assiut, Menoufia, Aswan, and Suez Canal universities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sixty-five members of <\/span>academic staff and their <\/span>assistant’s faculty members and members of the commission to assist the use of new labs, in addition to 400 students of involved faculties, received training on the basics of IC design and ISD, using training tools and software from the project laboratories. This is, in addition,<\/span>\u00a0to make the training scientific content available to as many young Egyptian and Arab engineers as possible, through an e-learning institute, where the first course on IC design was registered.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The initiative included cooperation with major electronic engineering companies such as Mentor Graphics. This aims at training young engineers on the latest engineering techniques in these labs, thus achieving the initial objectives to transfer technology and keep up with the global industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the past period, there has been a great interaction <\/span>of Egyptian and international companies operating in the electronics industry, with graduates of faculties benefiting from the initiative.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
