Aswan University President_ Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ participated today, Monday, in launching the fourth virtual forum for communication and interaction with business owners of Egyptian universities – UCCD Virtual Career Expo 2023, in attendance of the Director of the USAID Mission in Egypt, Ms. Leslie Reed, the President of the American University in Cairo, Dr. Ahmed Dalal, and the Advisor of the American University in Cairo, Dr. Mohamed Hamza, with the participation of many Egyptian public universities. The National Bank of Egypt and Etisalat Company also participated as main partners in the forum organized by the University Centers for Career Development (UCCD) project, which is implemented by the American University in Cairo (AUC) with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and in cooperation with the University Centers for Career Development that were established in the universities of: Luxor, Alexandria, Aswan, Assiut, Beni Suef, Sohag, Sadat, Suez, and Ain Shams. Tanta, Kafr El-Sheikh, Mansoura, Menoufia, Minya, and Zagazig.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aswan University President, Prof. Ayman Othman, stated in his speech that within the framework of Aswan University’s efforts to develop and qualify university students, the university pays great attention to the university’s Career Development Center and believes in its mission, as the center provides an integrated set of services and training in the fields of professional management and entrepreneurship, aiming to increase graduates’ competitiveness. This type of center also helps bridge the gap between university education outcomes and labor market needs by developing students’ job skills through a qualified and trained team capable of providing career guidance services to university students. <\/span><\/p>\n

During the meeting, Prof. Ayman Othman praised the project of university centers for Career development implemented by the American University in Cairo in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which began in 2017 and has so far involved 15 public universities with 20 university centers, and is scheduled to reach 30 centers at the level of 20 public universities, which works to prepare students with the skills required for the labor market through components of conducting studies in the labor market with various partnerships with business owners and companies in the governorate. <\/span><\/p>\n

The center has also provided more than 1,500 job opportunities and practical training in companies and factories in many different sectors and specializations, and worked to graduate graduates with a high level of efficiency and skill required for the labor market. Since its opening on January 16, 2020, the center has been able to provide more than 30,000 training and professional qualification opportunities at a high level of quality, and signed 9 cooperation agreements with major companies and institutions operating in Aswan. <\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the American University in Cairo, Dr. Ahmed Dallal, stressed: \u201cIn his speech, this forum is a successful model of fruitful cooperation between fifteen Egyptian universities, the business community, the United States Agency for International Development, and the American University in Cairo, which shares its expertise in the field of career development.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The forum, which will be held over three days from March 6-8, 2023, includes a large number of virtual events and seminars that address the most important developments in the labor market and entrepreneurship. It also explains to students and graduates how to prepare to start their professional lives, in several sectors, such as banking, health professions, construction, energy, communications, logistics support, and remote work fields, as representatives of major institutions and companies such as the National Bank of Egypt and Etisalat from E& present and participate in the seminars. The first day of the virtual forum is dedicated to entrepreneurship as an alternative option, where a number of experiences and success stories of a number of entrepreneurs are reviewed, as well as the most important steps necessary to start projects and obtain financing. Students and graduates from participating Egyptian universities register on the virtual platform, upload their CVs, and communicate with company representatives to learn about the most important jobs available within the virtual pavilions of various companies and banks, where they communicate with company and bank representatives via chat rooms, in addition to attending various seminars during the forum over the course of three days.<\/span><\/p>\n
