Under the slogan of World Venous Disease Week, the Department of Vascular Surgery at Aswan University\u2019s Faculty of Medicine organized an awareness campaign today, Friday, at Station Square in Aswan. The campaign was held under the auspices of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, President of Aswan University, and Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals, along with Dr. Ashraf Mebed, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals. The campaign was supervised by Dr. Emad El-Din Hussein, Professor of Vascular Surgery at Ain Shams University and the scientific supervisor of the Vascular Surgery Department at Aswan University, as well as the President of the African Federation of Vascular Sciences and Surgery, headquartered at Aswan University. The initiative aimed to provide free treatment for patients.<\/span>
\nThe campaign featured participation from Dr. Azz El-Sadiq, Advisor to the Governor of Aswan for Community Affairs and Community Development, and involved a team including Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Ismail, Head of the Vascular Surgery Department at Aswan University, Prof. Said El-Mallah, Professor of Vascular Surgery at Menoufia University, Dr. Ahmed Khalaf, lecturer of Vascular Surgery at Aswan University, and Dr. Mostafa Ismail, Lecturer of Vascular Surgery at Aswan University, along with Dr. Ahmed Abdel Karim, Dr. Marco Shehata Abdel Rabo, and student Mostafa Mahmoud from Faculty of Medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prof. Emad El-Din Hussein stated that this initiative is part of World Venous Disease Day, aimed at educating citizens about venous diseases, which can lead to varicose veins, blue swellings in the legs, and skin ulcers below the legs and above the feet, causing pain or swelling when standing for long periods. These symptoms may lead to venous thrombosis in the legs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prof. Mohamed Ismail from the Vascular Surgery Department at Aswan University added that certain groups are more susceptible to venous thrombosis, including those experiencing severe dehydration, prolonged bed rest, ongoing untreated fevers, or blood component disorders. The campaign also aimed to educate patients about preventive measures against vascular clots, such as drinking plenty of water to avoid dehydration, staying active with light exercise, avoiding long periods of standing or sitting, and consulting a specialist doctor when symptoms appear.<\/span><\/p>\n
