The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Loay Saad El-Deen Nasrat, Acting President of the University, and was attended by a distinguished group of energy experts, university leaders, representatives from major industrial and societal institutions, faculty vice deans, academic staff and their assistants, as well as alumni.

Prof. Loay Saad El-Deen Nasrat expressed his pride in the outstanding level of the students’ projects, stating: “We are witnessing a new generation of engineers capable of transforming ideas into impactful practical models. The electric car project designed by the students within the university laboratories proves that Aswan University is confidently moving towards supporting the shift to clean energy and the localization of modern technologies.”

One of the most prominent highlights of the event was the electric car project—an integrated practical experiment in which an electric vehicle was manufactured within the faculty’s labs. The car underwent practical testing on campus, demonstrating engineering readiness and innovation capability. Another standout project was the smart city model, implemented in the seminar hall using Sonoff devices for smart control of lighting, air conditioning, and fans via mobile apps and Alexa. The project achieved a 66.67% reduction in electricity consumption at a total cost not exceeding 30,000 EGP, making it both smart and economical.

Additionally, the solar still project was showcased under the supervision of a group of professors. It featured a low-cost cylindrical solar still designed for water desalination without electricity, relying solely on solar energy—making it ideal for remote areas and enhancing water security in desert regions. Another project, the solar power tower, presented a comprehensive design that uses reflective mirrors to concentrate sunlight onto a heating point to produce steam for electricity generation, aligning with the shift toward clean and sustainable energy sources.

Prof. Ashraf Imam, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, added that these projects are a genuine step toward serving the community and surrounding environment, and they reflect the university’s ability to connect engineering education with real development needs.

Prof. Tarek Hassan, Dean of the Faculty, noted that this year’s graduation projects embody the faculty’s vision of preparing engineers capable of driving change and leading the energy transformation in Egypt. He emphasized that the faculty goes beyond theoretical education, placing strong focus on practical and research-based applications that support sustainable development goals.

Prof. Abdelmomen Abdelrahim, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, explained that the faculty’s future vision includes expanding into specialized engineering programs such as petroleum engineering, natural gas, construction management, and project management, in line with strategic transformations in the Egyptian and global job markets.

Prof. Mohamed Fathy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, pointed out that the Faculty of Energy Engineering at Aswan University includes two main departments: Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. It offers specialized programs in renewable energy, electric power, and applied mechanics, and actively seeks to become a leading scientific beacon in Upper Egypt.

At the end of the event, the graduating students took commemorative photos with the attendees and university leaders, as well as photos of some of the graduation projects.

Faculty of Energy Engineering at Aswan University organized the graduation project discussions for final-year students of the 2024/2025 academic year.
