Dr. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, <\/span>Acting President of Aswan University, attended today’s activities of the National Initiative to Enhance the Role of the Health Sector in Providing Health Care and Psychological Support to Victims of Violence Against Women, which is organized by Aswan University, the National Council for Women, and the United Nations Population Fund.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was attended by Dr. Amal Philip,<\/span> Health Advisor for Combating Violence Against Women; Dr. Ashraf Maabad,<\/span> Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the Faculty of Medicine and Director of the University Surgery Hospital; Dr. Hala Al-Abidi, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine; and a number of university professors and young doctors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat<\/span> emphasized the critical importance of women’s roles in society in his speech, noting that the university plans to establish specialized centers to combat violence against women in collaboration with the National Council for Women, with a focus on assisting Aswan and African women, particularly Sudanese women, by providing comprehensive educational and medical care.<\/span><\/p>\n

”Nasrat”<\/span> added that Aswan University is welcoming international students from various African countries, particularly Sudan, in the faculties of medicine and other specializations, in accordance with the political leadership’s directives, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to support and empower women at all stages of life. At the event, H.E. announced the upcoming establishment of a unit to combat violence against women at Aswan University Hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Amal Philip,<\/span> for her own part, stated that the healthcare sector’s assistance for female survivors of abuse is a critical step toward empowering women and safeguarding their psychological and physical well-being. She stressed the need of training medical workers to treat such instances with compassion and exceptional professionalism, as the number of anti-violence units nationally has increased to roughly 37 in collaboration with Egyptian colleges, offering healthcare to women.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Ashraf Maabad,<\/span> Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Aswan University for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that Aswan University Hospitals will play an important role in receiving and treating various cases of violence victims, as well as providing them with a safe environment and integrated services within a comprehensive medical and humanitarian framework. We must remember the pioneering role played by Aswan University Hospitals and the Faculty of Medicine, led by Dr. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri,<\/span> Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, in serving Sudanese female patients and students by providing treatment and training distinguished medical students at the university hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the same context, Dr. Hala Al-Obaidi,<\/span> Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, confirmed that the university’s Department of Internal Medicine is fully prepared to collaborate with the new unit and contribute to providing the necessary medical and psychological support to women affected by violence in Aswan and abroad, particularly in neighboring countries. A facility has been formed at Aswan University Hospitals to combat violence against women, providing women with care and assistance in the face of violence and inhumane behaviors.<\/span><\/p>\n
