In attendance of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, Dean of Faculty of Medicine at Aswan University; Dr. Ashraf Mebed, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals; Dr. Mohamed Saeed, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Population in Aswan; Mr. Khaled Asran, Secretary-General of the University; Dr. Entesar Gad El-Moula, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Dr. Mohamed Gaber, Dean of the Faculty of Social Work; a representative of the National Council for Women in Aswan; and a number of academic and executive leaders and figures concerned with population issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Ashraf Emam, Acting President of Aswan University, welcomed Dr. Abla El-Alfy and her delegation, emphasizing that hosting the meeting reflects the university\u2019s commitment to building genuine bridges of cooperation with state institutions and unifying national efforts on priority issues, particularly population affairs, family health, and human development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">Prof. Ashraf Emam stated that Aswan University views the population issue as a matter of national importance and development, rather than merely a matter of figures and indicators. Accordingly, the university\u2019s role extends beyond education and healthcare to include raising awareness, correcting misconceptions, supporting families, and actively contributing to the state\u2019s efforts to build a capable Egyptian citizen who can shape a better future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">He added that Aswan University has an integrated healthcare and academic system that includes university hospitals, specialized medical centers, and Faculties of Medicine and Nursing. This makes the university a key partner in providing healthcare and medical services to residents of Aswan and the governorates of Upper Egypt, in addition to its role in awareness, prevention, training, and scientific research.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">The Acting President of Aswan University stressed that the university attaches great importance to health and community awareness and seeks to utilize its scientific and human resources to support national initiatives, noting that awareness represents the first line of defense in protecting families and society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">Prof. Ashraf Emam explained that the university believes that genuine investment begins with people, and that building an aware and healthy individual is the foundation of any sustainable development path. Hence, the importance of partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population, the National Population Council, and the National Council for Women in order to deliver awareness messages to various segments of society, particularly young people, students, and families in Upper Egypt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">He pointed out that the presidential initiative \u201cThe Golden 1,000 Days for the Development of the Egyptian Family\u201d represents an important model of integration between the health, social, and developmental dimensions, given the crucial importance of the first 1,000 days of a child\u2019s life in shaping the child\u2019s future health, psychological well-being, and cognitive development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">Prof. Ashraf Emam emphasized the importance of expanding the scope of awareness programs and activities both inside and outside the university to cover issues such as family planning, maternal and child health, healthcare during pregnancy and childbirth, proper nutrition, care during the first 1,000 days of life, women\u2019s health and social empowerment, and promoting a culture of responsible family planning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">For her part, Dr. Abla Ahmed El-Alfy, Deputy Minister of Health and Population for Population Affairs and Family Development and Supervisor of the National Population Council, emphasized the importance of cooperation with Egyptian universities as scientific and community institutions with broad influence in shaping young people\u2019s awareness. She praised Aswan University\u2019s role and its academic and medical capabilities in supporting the state\u2019s efforts in the areas of population and family development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">Prof. Abla El-Alfy added that it is important to move from viewing the population issue as merely a service-oriented file toward a more comprehensive approach based on investing in the family and the individual, raising awareness, improving the population characteristics of Aswan Governorate, supporting maternal and child health, empowering women, and building healthier generations capable of participating in the development process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">For his part, Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Aswan University, said that the Faculty of Medicine represents one of the university\u2019s main pillars in serving the community. He noted that the faculty, with its distinguished academic and medical personnel, together with Aswan University Hospitals, is capable of making an effective contribution to implementing health and awareness programs related to family health and community development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">Prof. El-Dahshoury explained that addressing population challenges requires genuine integration among medical and social disciplines and making use of academic and medical expertise to promote a culture of prevention, early detection, and health awareness. He stressed the importance of delivering health messages to young people and families in simple, scientifically sound ways that correspond to the needs of the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">He added that the Faculty of Medicine will continue to support national initiatives in maternal and child health, family development, and health awareness, thereby strengthening the university\u2019s role in serving its community and translating the mission of medicine into protecting people and improving their quality of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">\u201cThe Ministry of Health and Population: Universities are key partners in shaping young people\u2019s awareness and supporting family development.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">The meeting also discussed mechanisms for enhancing cooperation between Aswan University and the Ministry of Health and Population, activating joint programs and activities, and utilizing the university\u2019s specialized academic and medical personnel to implement awareness initiatives and programs, ensuring that health and population messages reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">At the conclusion of the meeting, the discussions culminated in the signing of a cooperation protocol between Aswan University and the Ministry of Health and Population, translating the issues discussed into practical steps and joint executive programs that support the Egyptian state\u2019s efforts in population affairs, family development, health, and community awareness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">The protocol was signed on behalf of Aswan University by Prof. Ashraf Emam, Acting President of the University, and on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Population by Prof. Dr. Abla Ahmed El-Alfy, Deputy Minister of Health and Population for Population Affairs and Family Development and Supervisor of the National Population Council. The signing underscores both parties\u2019 commitment to unifying efforts and maximizing the use of their respective scientific, medical, and awareness-raising resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">The protocol aims to support cooperation and coordination between the two sides, activate programs and initiatives related to family health and raising awareness of population issues, and utilize academic and medical expertise and competencies to reach various segments of society, particularly young people and families, while promoting concepts of prevention, family planning, and maternal and child health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">The meeting concluded with an affirmation that the signing of the protocol represents a new step toward a more effective institutional partnership between Aswan University and the Ministry of Health and Population. It also constitutes a practical translation of the integration of roles among national institutions, serving Egyptian citizens, supporting the state\u2019s efforts to build human capital, improve
