Yesterday corresponding to 30th\u00a0 of March 2020 the minister of higher education and scientific research and the president of the national commission of UNESCO Prof. Khaled Abd Al Ghaffar took part in a virtual meeting via video conference held by UNESCO. The meeting introduced the ministry’s plan to combat the novel COVID 19 with the participation of 200 international experts on education and scientific research among whom 72 were ministers of higher education representing 127 countries.<\/span><\/p>\n The meeting handled experience and cooperation exchange between the different countries to combat the COVID 19 outbreak, creating a platform for consultation and exchange experience between the different countries concerning the lessons learned of the science’s vital role in supporting the evidence-based decision-making. The session discussed the possibility of approving on “a Call for an International Charter of Open Science and the International Scientific Research Cooperation”<\/span><\/p>\n Prof. Abd Al Ghaffar stressed on Egypt’s precautionary measures to combat COVID 19 as it allocated 100 billion EGP. to face the virus outbreak.<\/span><\/p>\n The minister confirmed the State’s efforts against Coronavirus pandemic pointing at the initiative to which the country allocated 30 million EGP. launched by the ministry ” apply your exceptional idea to combat COVID 19 outbreak”\u00a0 to provide sterile and disinfecting materials according to the standards of the World Health Organization, and to find alternative solutions to the lack of treatment and health capabilities to cope with the global epidemic.<\/span><\/p>\n The minister asserted on the efforts exerted by the supreme council of university hospitals and creating a laboratory for studying the genetic sequence of the virus aiming at producing an ant-Coronavirus treatment and continuing experimenting different anti-viruses protocols that can be used in curing and mitigating the symptoms of some positive cases.<\/span><\/p>\n Abdel Ghaffar discussed the possibility of launching a mobile application in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology that controls the spread of the virus by identifying and monitoring people who have the first contact with positive cases, and developing and using infrared thermometer devices to detect and control temperature in all public institutions. The Minister discussed the effect of the tuberculosis vaccine that has existed in the Egyptian vaccination plan for more than forty years, and its effect in reducing infection with the emerging Coronavirus, stressing that Egypt is sparing no effort in finding necessary solutions to confront the Coronavirus, and taking all necessary measures to secure the Egyptian citizen.<\/span><\/p>\n The Minister discussed the possibility of exchanging the latest scientific results between universities to confront the virus outbreak, as well as organizing awareness campaigns, lectures and seminars to deal with the epidemic, and promote research projects related to medical devices such as ventilators so that they can use one device to resuscitate many patients. Prof. Abd Al Ghaffar valued the significant role played by the Ministry’s research centers that contributed to the diagnosis of the infected cases and the manufacture of antiseptics and face masks using nanotechnology.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n
