{"id":5969,"date":"2020-11-29T13:54:41","date_gmt":"2020-11-29T13:54:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/?page_id=5969"},"modified":"2021-11-18T21:57:06","modified_gmt":"2021-11-18T21:57:06","slug":"prioritise-purchase-of-products-from-local-sustainable-sources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/fr\/sdg-2\/2-5-national-hunger\/prioritise-purchase-of-products-from-local-sustainable-sources\/","title":{"rendered":"Prioritise purchase of products from local, sustainable sources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Prioritise purchase of products from local, sustainable sources<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Aswan University prioritizes purchasing products from local and sustainable sources, and put this as a condition in the policy we put for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/Sustainable-Food.pdf\"><strong>sustainable food<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0the contract and provision of food and products from providers outsourced the University.<\/p>\n<p>The university did not stop at external service providers only, as the Faculty of Agriculture at Aswan University established infrastructure and capabilities that make the university depend on its internal food capabilities and not only external.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/aswu.edu.eg\/en\/capacities-and-infrastructure-for-sustainable-food\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms of these capabilities<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">are<\/span>:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Planting (8) greenhouses for the production of (okra \u2013 zucchini \u2013 strawberry \u2013 cucumber \u2013 pepper) in the faculty farm outside the university<\/li>\n<li>Planting (7) acres of fruit (grapes \u2013 mango, Kate \/ Nayomi) in the faculty farm outside the university.<\/li>\n<li>Planting half an acre with different varieties of fruit as student model .<\/li>\n<li>Allocating (9) acres for animal and poultry production as an educational research farm.
