Meteorological Station

With the climatic changes that the world is witnessing, the agricultural sector, like all sectors, is affected by climate changes and what is related to it in terms of changing cultivation and harvesting dates and the different life cycles of many pests with the emergence of new pests.

Add to this the scarcity of rains, droughts, as well as torrential rains, etc.

Knowing meteorological data accurately and daily can help predict the climate and take the necessary precautions. The Central Laboratory for Agricultural Climate Research was established as a specialized scientific institution affiliated with the Agricultural Research Center at the Ministry of Agriculture. It was one of the results of serious cooperation between Aswan University through Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources On the one hand, and the Central Laboratory for Agricultural Climate, on the other hand, the faculty is supported by an advanced meteorological station that serves the research and scientific aspects of Academic Staff, their assistants, and postgraduate students in the various departments of the Faculty. This station provides comprehensive information on solar radiation, air and soil temperatures, wind speed and its direction, and others, through a group Sensors and this information is available every hour throughout the day with illustrations and charts showing The different relationships between them to make it easier for the researcher to understand the results.

The station is equipped with a solar energy cell to charge the battery, and it has an information line connected to the Internet, so it does not need any connections, whether for electricity or the Internet. All that the researcher has to do is enter the station’s website on the Internet and specify the time period for which he wants to know the meteorological data and determine whether the data is hourly or daily or monthly average. Then upload the required data in the form of an excel file or Charts.
