1.3.3 Low-income student support

Aswan University is responsible for eradicating poverty through the various forms of support it provides to students from low-income families to enable them to complete their university studies, as the university offers various programs to support these students,

Forms of financial support:

  • Aswan University established the Social Solidarity Fund in accordance with the financial and administrative regulations issued for the Central Fund for Social Solidarity for University Students No. 968 of 1982, which aims to work on solving problems facing students and preventing them from continuing their studies due to financial deficit and many other goals.

  • In the year 2020-2021, a cooperation protocol was signed between Aswan University and the Misr El Kheir Foundation to support financially incapable students within the Foundation’s Ibn Sabeel initiative, with funding of 48,500.00 pounds for the tuition fees of 68 males and females out of 120 students, at an amount of 80,000
  • There is also a Social Solidarity Unit at Aswan University. This unit aims to provide direct and indirect social services to all segments of society. Since university students are among the groups targeted by the Ministry of Social Solidarity at this stage, with the various services and programs implemented by the Ministry, whether these programs are rehabilitative. Educational, awareness-raising, material, or therapeutic, whether this student is ordinary or has special needs.

 

Some of the programs and services provided by the unit:

  • Social protection and development services.
  • Rehabilitation and integration services for people with disabilities.
  • Economic empowerment and financial inclusion services.
  • Paying tuition fees for students who are unable.
  • Providing equal opportunities in education for students with disabilities by providing compensatory devices and assistive devices for them in education.
  • Providing integrated service cards for persons with disabilities.
