Aswan University assumes the responsibility of eradicating poverty through the various forms of support it provides to students from low-income families to enable them to complete university studies, as the university offers various programs to support these students,
* Social Solidarity Unit:
It aims to provide direct and indirect social services to all segments of society. University students are among the groups that the Ministry of Social Solidarity has targeted at this stage, with the various services and programs implemented by the Ministry, whether these programs are rehabilitative, educational, awareness-raising, economic or therapeutic, and whether this is the student is normal or has special needs.
Some of the programs and services provided by the unit:
- Social protection and development services.
- Rehabilitation and integration services for people with disabilities.
- Economic empowerment and financial inclusion services.
- Paying tuition fees for students who are unable.
- Providing equal opportunities in education for students with disabilities by providing compensatory devices and assistive devices for them in education.
- Providing integrated service cards for persons with disabilities.
* Collaboration
Aswan University works to confront and eradicate poverty through cooperation between it and community institutions.
- In the year 2020-2021, a cooperation protocol was signed between Aswan University and the Misr El-Kheir Foundation to support students who are financially unable within the Foundation’s Ibn Sabeel initiative, with financing of 48,500.00 Egyptian pounds for the expenses of 68 male and female students out of 68. 120 students amounted to 80 thousand
* Social Solidarity Fund:
- Aswan University established the Social Solidarity Fund in accordance with the financial and administrative regulations issued for the Central Fund for Social Solidarity for University Students No. 968 of 1982, which aims to work on solving problems facing students and preventing them from continuing their studies due to financial deficit and many other goals.
Social Security Fund services for students
- Payment of tuition fees.
- University book support.
- Assistance in obtaining medical glasses.
- Assistance in obtaining clothing (in-kind subsidies, clothing or study tools).
- Support for nutritional meals.
- Supporting the graduation project for undergraduate students.
- Monthly subsidies for students with chronic or incurable diseases.
