Goals

The Goals of the Aswan Civilization and Heritage Center are represented in three axes, which are called the center’s strategy axes; which are the introductory, educational, and Marketing axes.

The center’s strategy axes:

The center’s development strategy is limited to three main axes:

First: – Introductory axis: – 

1- Exploiting the distinguished and diverse cultural heritage that Aswan Governorate have it, especially that the Aswan heritage can be divided into:
tangible heritage and includes:–

Cultural heritage and includes archaeological areas, where Aswan’s history extends –since prehistoric times, then the Pharaonic, the Greco-Roman, the Coptic, the Islamic and the modern ages, as Aswan contains antiquities from all previous eras.
-Natural heritage, as Aswan contains the three Egyptian environments, whether agricultural,desert or coastal.
-The intangible cultural heritage, which includes the authentic customs and traditions that characterize Aswan community, the traditional crafts and industries that characterize Aswan, whether pottery, Porcelain, leather and basketry industries, in the villages of Aswan, and the Nubia… Etc., in addition to the Aswan folk art and the Islamic or Christian celebrations and holidays within Aswan community, in addition to food (the traditional types of food that the people of Aswan have been known for since ancient times).
2-The center aims to acquaint the university community, whether Academic Staff or students or employees, with the elements of the cultural heritage that characterize Aswan by holding periodic seminars within the faculties to define this.
3-Choosing a delegate from Academic staff or their assistants from every faculty at the university so that he becomes a representative of the director of the center within the faculties, and he is responsible for developing and following up the plans and activities that the center will carry out, in addition to defining the center’s activities within its faculty, so that there will be a meeting Monthly at the center’s headquarters for members and delegates of the center to exchange opinions and suggestions and follow up on the implementation of the center’s activities and plans.
4-The center hosts public cultural figures inside the center to give speeches, thus allowing a distinguished media presence to introduce the center in a strong way.
5-Selection of members from the external local community, such as the Antiquities Authority in Aswan, Palace of Culture office in Aswan, Tourism Promotion Authority office in Aswan, Tourism Development Authority in Aswan…. Etc., in order to participate in the monthly meeting at the center’s headquarters to participate in the center’s activities and implement plans and proposals.
6-defining the external community to the elements of the cultural heritage in Aswan by holding symposiums in the Palace of Culture in Aswan, Youth and Sports Directorate and the schools of all stages of study in Aswan.
7- The center mainly aims to implement four main plans for the cultural heritage of Aswan, which are:
– Aswan is in dire need to document its cultural and natural heritage, tangible and intangible.
-Aswan is in dire need of good management of the heritage elements in the governorate, especially that mismanagement leads to the destruction, fading and weakening of the importance of these elements.
-The cultural heritage in Aswan Governorate needs marketing with high efficiency that highlights these elements, as marketing our cultural heritage in Aswan will effectively lead to maximizing the benefits of the elements of cultural and natural heritage in creating distinctive tourist attractions in Aswan, especially that tourism: “is the real voice of cultural heritage.

Second: The educational axis:

1- in order to create a financial income for the center on the one hand and carry out its educational role on the other hand, the center will aim to hold training and teaching courses in the field of cultural heritage (Short Courses) for a period from 10-20 days to train target groups, whether university students or From outside it, from the local community or workers in the ministries of culture, antiquities and tourism in exchange for a certain amount of money, as the teaching will be done by specialized university professors in addition to experts in that field to teach in these courses. These courses and their content will be marketed through the official correspondences of the ministries in addition to marketing them through Social Media, where the trainee will obtain an accredited certificate from Aswan University regarding the training program , its content and duration.
2-Cooperation with the Egyptian and foreign excavation missions working in Aswan to deliver introductory lectures to the center on the latest archaeological discoveries in Aswan for university students, especially within Faculties of Archaeology and tourism.
3- Issuing a semi-annual magazine to introduce the cultural heritage in general and the cultural heritage of Aswan in particular, as well as introducing the center and its activities, so that heritage experts from inside and outside Egypt can write in that magazine, public figures can also send articles for publication in that magazine, and the Centre will seek to find a publication house to finance that magazine.
4-Holding an annual international conference through the center aims to adopt a specific issue in the field of Egyptian cultural heritage with full external funding with the participation of experts in cultural heritage, whether inside or outside Egypt, and the work of a magazine to print research of the Annual conference.

Third: Marketing axis: 

1-The center aims to maximize its financial capabilities, whether by applying for projects funded by organizations, whether internal or external, where these research projects can be directed to documenting the cultural heritage in Aswan and how to manage, preserve and market it. It will increase the income of the center required to carry out its service activities.
2- Holding cooperation protocols between the center and institutions interested in cultural heritage , whether inside or outside Egypt, such as the Egyptian Heritage Organization (ECHO), the Center for Documentation of Egyptian Natural and Civilized Heritage(CULTNAT) of the Alexandrina Library in the Smart Village, and the UNESCO office in Egypt, whereas the center can benefit financially And morally.
3- Working to cooperate with Arab and Islamic institutions specialized in heritage issues, such as the organizations that sponsor culture and science in the Arab and Islamic world, such as: ISSESCO “The Islamic organization for Education, Science and Culture”, as well as Alesco “The Arab Organization for Education, Science and Culture”, in addition to the Arab Regional Center for Education for  World Heritage (ARC-WH) and the Queen Rania Center for Cultural Heritage in Jordan. The cooperation protocols directly aim to find moral and material support bodies for the center.
4-Holding agreements and joint workshops between the center and the departments of cultural heritage in foreign universities. Those workshops that will be funded by international institutions in Egypt such as DAAD, Agakhan and the British Council, those institutions that provide financial support and training programs in return for money in various fields.
5-Working to help the local community in Aswan by helping the owners of crafts and heritage industries in Aswan, who suffer from the inability to purchase the raw material for the crafts industry, in addition to their inability to sell and market their crafts, whether internally or externally,

6-The center’s strong participation in the events related to the cultural heritage that hold its activities on Aswan, such as the celebration of the Aswan Governorate National Day, the Tourism Festival, the Nubia celebrations, and the sun perpendicular to the temple Ramses II in Abu Simbel, where the center can participate in an organizational form for these festivals and give more media support.
