11.2.2 Public access to libraries including books and publications

Public access to libraries including books and publications: –

  • The University’s libraries consist of:
  • The central library
  • 20 libraries, a library for each Faculty
  • Libraries of scientific departments, centers, and units.
  • The university libraries aim to save the beneficiary’s time and effort to obtain the information in the least time and without effort.
  • Free access after application: Aswan University provides free access to its libraries for students from outside the university as well as the public.
  • You must coordinate in advance with the responsible librarian and obtain a permit to enter the library and view all the contents of the library.

In some cases, you can borrow from those contents if you provide Your ID and pay a security amount, and that amount will be refunded when the content that was borrowed is returned.

Moreover, Aswan University introduces an open access to library of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) which established in 2016, as one of the largest and most important national projects in the field of education and scientific research within the history of modern Egypt. The Egyptian Knowledge Bank has two main portals concerning to supply knowledge for both public and advanced levels of education. Furthermore, Aswan University supplies free access to one site, which provides all the sources of knowledge for the public “Egyptian Universities Libraries Catalogue” (EULC)

  • Research of Staff Members in Egyptian Universities
  • Scientific Journals Published by the Egyptian Universities

  • Communicating with major libraries throughout the world to see the latest books
  • International databases that the Supreme Council of Universities contracted with to follow the updates in scientific research worldwide, as well as access to more than 25 thousand periodicals and download the full text.

In addition, Aswan University provides access to the Embassy of Knowledge (EoK).

As part of its services, EoK develops a monthly program of activities and programs, rooted in the fields of culture, arts, and sciences, that strive to raise the standards of achievement and motivation, as well as promote the concept of knowledge in its broadest sense, amongst students across Egypt. As such, EoK work not only to empower young people to become better learners, but also to be creators, inventors, teachers, community leaders and global citizens.

  • Promote and preserve Egypt’s cultural heritage through the organization of interactive workshops in literary, artistic, and scientific fields.

We provide access to:

  • All the scientific databases and journals available at the BA, which cover a vast range of subjects in all human sciences and knowledge.
  • The BA Digital Assets Repository (DAR). Through EoK, patrons can review the full content of the digitized books available instead of the 5% viewer access allocated online.
  • The full spectrum of BA publications.

The university always works to raise the level of efficiency of its employees and to enhance scientific and practical experiences in various fields.

The university prepared a training course for library staff. The aim of the training was:

  1. How to create a university mail and deal with it to facilitate electronic transactions and explain all its features and advantages
  2. How to register on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and access the bank’s resources for free by viewing video clips
  3. The role of library staff in helping Egyptians of all ages to develop their knowledge, skills and culture.

On the 20 th Feb 2023, Aswan University Participates in the 10th Aswan Festival for Arts and Culture

Aswan University, under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Osman, President of Aswan University, participated in the 10th Aswan Festival for Arts and Culture, held in Aswan. The event was also under patronage of Major General. Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, and Dr. Nevin El-Kilani, Minister of Culture. The festival was attended by the artist. Ahmed El-Shafei, President of the Festival, Prof. Loai Saad El-Din Nasrat, Vice President of Aswan University for Education and Student Affairs, Mr. Emad Fathi, Head of the Central Administration for Southern Upper Egypt Cultural Region, Ms. Nagwa Ahmed Sayed, Director of Aswan Culture Branch, Dr. Hossam Ramadan, Coordinator of the African Languages Department at the Institute of African and Nile states Research and Studies , Dr. Ayman Abdel-Ghaffar, Vice Dean of Faculty of Law, and Dr. Maged El-Gebally, Faculty of Arts, Aswan University.

 

On the 2 nd Feb 2023, Aswan University Students Participate in the 54th Cairo International Book Fair

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Osman, President of Aswan University, stated that in line with raising awareness among university students and fostering intellectual growth through reading and exploration, the university organized a visit to the 54th Cairo International Book Fair. The visit, coordinated by the General Administration for Student Care, involved 48 students from various university faculties, including members of the Student Union and the “For Egypt” student Group.

 

On the 11 th Dec 2022, Aswan University Organizes the First Artistic Festival to hone Students’ Artistic, Cultural, and Creative Talents

In the context of implementing the plan for student activities at Aswan University, under patronage of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Osman, President of Aswan University, and under the supervision of Prof. Loai Saad El-Din Nasrat, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, the university is committed to fostering student activities and talent.

 

In 2021, Within the framework of Aswan University’s preservation of knowledge and culture and highlighting the role of libraries and their importance in the conduct of the educational process and facilitating it in providing books and scientific references that students need in the study and preparation of various research

The second book fair” was opened at Aswan University Prof. Dr. Ayman Othman stressed the importance of cooperation in organizing the activities of the second book fair, which will be held at Fawzy Al-Saifi Theater in Aswan from 3 to 12 November 2021, which includes many books and articles in various fields and different cultural disciplines, which were offered at nominal prices to be appropriate. For students and work to raise the awareness of the public through the acquisition and reading of books, the book fair will witness many cultural, artistic, poetic and religious evenings.

In 2020, Aswan University held a “Aswan University Book Fair at the Faculty of Agriculture at Aswan University in the desert under the slogan “Reading for All”, where the exhibition will be held for the second year in a row, and many sectors participated in it, including the Ministry of Culture, the House of Knowledge, and the Great Pyramids. The exhibition area is from 250 to 300 square meters and includes about 30 thousand books with hundreds of different titles in general knowledge, science, and literature.

In 2019, Aswan University participated in “The seventh session of the Aswan International Festival of Arts. More than 90 titles were presented, in which the Organization of Culture Palaces participated in the Golden Jubilee of the Cairo International Book Fair. The festival is an important way to get acquainted with the cultures and civilizations of different countries to achieve more communication, especially with the Nile Basin countries. In this festival, the minister stressed the need to invest the mind of the citizen to develop and enhance the values of enlightenment and knowledge to confront ideas with thought and eliminate extremist trends.
