An International Workshop on Water, Energy and Food Nexus in MENA Region

Al Zagazig university in cooperation with Aswan university, the International Authority for Water and German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) are holding a global workshop in Aswan city on Water, Energy, Food in  Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) from 11th to 17th November 2018 with the participation of 40 international expert from 8 countries.

The following figures witnessed the workshop’s opening:

  • The minster of water resources and irrigation Prof. Mohammed Abd Al Atty.
  • Aswan governor Maj. Gen. Ahmed Ibrahim.
  • The head of International Authority for Water Dr. Norbert Deshtel.
  • The president of Zagazig University Dr. Khaled Abd Al Bary.
  • The vice president of Aswan university Prof. Ayman Othman.

The workshop coordinator Dr. Mohammed Hashem declared that the workshop handles the following subjects: 

  • Energy and food from water perspective.
  • The appropriate technologies of water, sanitary wastewater in the developing countries.
  • Modern technology and nature-based solutions for water scarcity and drought management.
  • Sanitary wastewater management.
  • Agriculture and soil usage impact on the future energy systems and urban energy taking into consideration water and food security in addition to nontraditional water resources in the Middle east.

For his part, Aswan university vice president of graduate studies and research Prof. Ayman Othman said that Aswan university participates by  a number of research. He added that the university is looking forward to significant recommendations from the international experts aiming at serving the community.
