Aswan University hosted a workshop on Anti- violence against women in all its forms and manifestations, at the stadiums of Faculty of Physical Education, Aswan University, under the slogan “Unite ..Together we reach a life free of gender-based violence.”
The activities of the workshop, organized by the Southern Foundation Women, were witnessed by Dr. Adel Makki – Faculty of Physical Education dean- and Dr. Refaat Abdel- Latif – Head of the Team sports Department in the faculty – and in attendance of students of Faculty of Physical Education, media workers, intellectuals and those interested in the issue, in light of the participation in the Events of the 16 days To combat violence against women, which this year under the slogan “Unite”.
The meeting also witnessed the participation of Eng. Ahmed Bahaa El-Din – Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for Solar Energy in Banban and official of one of the solar energy company – and the representative of the Southern Women’s Foundation team are Mrs. Safinaz Ibrahim – Former Undersecretary of Ministry of Education and Chairman of Board of Trustees – and Dr. Hamdiya Othman – Developmental Consultant – and Mrs. Omaima Ibrahim – official of the Foundation’s Media Committee.
The meeting included a carnival celebration, which included some artistic and sports performances by students of Faculty of Physical Education. Discussions took place in a wonderful interaction between the participants on the seriousness of violence against women, its negative effects on women and society, and the mechanisms to address it.
The recommendations of the meeting included the Approval on implementing a cooperation protocol between the southern Women Foundation, Directorate of Youth and Sports, Aswan University and the Solar Energy Company, which aims to invest in youth centers to hold similar events to spread awareness among young people of the seriousness of violence against women and ways to combat it and reduce violence within rural and local communities.
