Under the patronage of Prof. Ezze Eldeene Abusett – Minister of Agriculture, Major G.Ahmed Ibrahim-Aswan Governor and Prof. Ahmed Ghallab Aswan University President ; the university participated in the workshop which was organized by Horticulture Research Institute in cooperation with Food Technological Research Institute entitled” the role of the botanical garden in agricultural and environmental development” at the Conference Hall, Nubian Museum.
Dr. Ashraf Bakry- Agent of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Aswan confirmed that the university participates in all activities and procedures that are belonging to the development of environment, also university organized the environmental day in the last November and including the cultivation of 1500 trees on the desert road near to the university headquarter, Sahari .
Dr. Sabri Salah El Deen, Afforestation and Gardens Consultant of Aswan University President, and the Consultant of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants added that the cooperation protocol between university and the horticulture research institute will be signed in order to afforest Aswan streets within the initiative of planting 100 thousand fruitful, aromatic and various trees during the next days, and this in the context of community participation to develop and beautify Aswan in a line with Sisi’s declaration, Aswan is the capital of African youth.
Dr.Amr Mahmued –The chairman of the botanical garden said that the workshop included a group of lectures and meetings about the role of botanical garden in the agricultural development, how to benefit from the low quality dates in manufacturing various foods, the importance of the afforestation of Jojoba plants which their seeds give us oils that are used in the fields of cosmetics, medicine, pharmaceuticals, motor oils, and wastewater treatment.
He pointed out to that the workshop was attended by a wide range of experts and researchers as Dr.Mohammed Abdel Salam –Chairman of Horticulture Institute, Dr. Eman Salam-Chairman of Foods Technology Researches Institute, Hisham El Tayeb – General supervisor of the Botanical Garden, in addition to the officials of the Directorate of Agriculture, Aswan Governorate.
