Aswan University adopts a sustainable diet policy, which is the system that provides food security and nutrition for all university employees at a competitive cost and subsidized for some groups of university employees and maintains a clean and safe environment. This policy has been prepared to be followed and applied to all outlets:
Accordingly, the following policies are followed in the university restaurants.
· Supply to achieve sustainability:
o Purchasing committees and suppliers are committed to relying on local agricultural and animal products to contribute to the prosperity of the local economy and sustainable livelihoods.
o Food suppliers are approved by the Ministry of Health.
o Alert suppliers of vegetables and fruits not to use manufactured herbicides or synthetic fertilizers in agriculture and to reduce or prevent pesticides as much as possible.
o Transporting food waste in a healthy and safe manner to places designated for waste disposal, in coordination with the local council of Aswan Governorate
o Measuring the amount of food waste and submitting a weekly report on it.
o Diversity of meals for Aswan University students so that vegetables and fruits are fresh and Variety sources of protein.
