Within the framework of the Social Solidarity Units Project in Egyptian Universities, which is implemented by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, in cooperation with 31 public and private universities in addition to Al-Azhar University, and within the framework of the “Productive Student” initiative launched by the Ministry of Social Solidarity at the beginning of last June, which aims to motivate youth to work and produce. Investing in the minds of youth is one of the ways to fight poverty by providing training and financing opportunities for micro-projects. In its vision for this initiative, the Ministry aims to refine the student’s personality and work to support his financial and social independence, and to raise future generations, especially those with priority care, to develop the spirit of innovation, Creativity and encouraging them to invest in their skills and abilities.
Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj_Minister of Social Solidarity_ announced the launch of a package of training programs for students wishing to establish productive projects during their studies at the university. The initiative aims to train 10,000 students, both male and female, during the summer vacation, starting last August, until the end of this September, 2023. Training courses will also be implemented in the field of preparing feasibility studies, marketing, financial inclusion, and traditional and handmade crafts. The best 10 feasibility studies for each university will be selected from the participants in the training workshops. The Ministry will provide financing opportunities with a financial value ranging from 10,000 pounds to 15,000 pounds. For one project, a total of 5,000 thousand productive projects contribute to motivating students to work, produce, and achieve financial independence from a young age.
Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_Aswan University president_ added within the framework of the joint cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Ministry of Social Solidarity, and under patronage of Prof. Ayman Ashour_ Minister of Higher Education, and Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj_Minister of Social Solidarity, and within the framework of Ministry of Social Solidarity’s keenness In achieving Egypt’s vision for sustainable development 2030, especially the axis of social justice, the Social Solidarity Unit at Aswan University has implemented a workshop to teach handicrafts that gives volunteer students skills in implementing some products that can then be marketed to open a field for economic empowerment and small and micro enterprises.
Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat_ Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, explained that this cooperation is under the supervision of Dr. Salah Hashem_ Advisor to Ministry of Solidarity for Social Policies, and General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units in Egyptian Universities, and under supervision of Dr. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat, Vice President for Education and students Affairs. And work to discover those with entrepreneurial ideas and work to develop them by finding and diversifying the labor market.
