University center for Career Development at Aswan University Celebrates the New Year

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Osman_ Aswan University President, praised the center’s role and its ability to forge partnerships with actors in Aswan’s labor market during his speech. He highlighted the center’s commitment to signing cooperation agreements, having established partnerships with various stakeholders in the labor market to provide practical training opportunities for students and graduates at different companies and institutions.

Prof. Osman further noted that the University Centers for Career Development project, implemented by the American University in Cairo in collaboration with USAID and the Ministry of Higher Education since 2017, currently involves 13 public universities with a total of 20 centers, aiming to expand to 30 centers across 20 universities. The project focuses on equipping students with the skills needed for the Labor market, including conducting labor market studies and establishing partnerships with local businesses.

The celebration was attended by Dr. Loai Saad El-Din Nasr, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Amal Abdel-Wahed, Director of University Centers at the American University for the Sadat, Sohag, Luxor, and Aswan centers, and Dr. Mohamed Eid, Executive Director of the University’s Information and Networks Center, along with the center’s team and volunteer students and graduates, including seven members who have received high-level training in various professional development fields.

Dr. Loai Saad El-Din emphasized that the celebration of the University Career Development Center marks the culmination of the center’s efforts in preparing students and graduates for the Labor market in partnership with business owners and companies, who were honored at the event for their support in enhancing the skills of Aswan University students by providing practical training and employment opportunities. Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to volunteer students from Aswan University. It is noteworthy that the center has served over 35,000 students in previous periods and witnessed the signing of three cooperation protocols with institutions of Tawfiq and Al-Salam Academy Sports and Benban Solar, aimed at offering various activities and practical training for Aswan University students and graduates.

Dr. Maha Fakhry emphasized the strong relationship with Aswan University and expressed gratitude to the university administration for the ongoing support in developing graduates and linking them to the job market. The center has provided over 1,500 job and practical training opportunities across various sectors and has worked to graduate highly skilled and competent individuals. Since its opening on January 16, 2020, the center has offered over 30,000 high-quality training and professional development opportunities and signed 12 cooperation agreements with major companies and institutions operating in Aswan.

At the conclusion of the celebration, Dr. Loai Saad El-Din presented certificates of attendance for the semi-annual training camp for the center’s volunteers. Additionally, workshops were conducted for the team and volunteers focused on how to set short-term and long-term goals for each individual. This involved establishing both immediate and distant objectives to facilitate ongoing development.
