Aswan University President Attends the Launch of the Cultural and Sports Salon within the Framework of the Presidential Initiative “A New Beginning for Human Development”

Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, witnessed the launch of the Cultural and Sports Salon as part of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Human Development.” The event was organized with the participation of Aswan Directorate of Awqaf, Religious Guidance and Media Department of Al-Azhar in Aswan, and Shams Sports Club. The event was also attended by Prof. Ahmed Glab Mohamed, former President of Aswan University, Prof. Adel Mekki, Dean of Faculty of Sport Sciences, Sheikh Hanfi Mahmoud Diab, Undersecretary of Ministry of Awqaf in Aswan, Dr. Salah El-Sayed Nagi, Director-General of the Religious Guidance and Media Department of Al-Azhar in Aswan, Sheikh Abdullah Abdel-Rahman, Director of Fatwa Administration, and Captain Nabil Abdel-Shakour, President of the Shams Sports Club in Aswan, in addition to the faculty deputies and students.

Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat confirmed that, in line with the achievements witnessed by the New Republic, and coinciding with the celebrations of the Prophet’s birth and the glorious October victories, the university seeks to activate and implement the “Bedaya” (New Beginning) initiative through student activities and cultural and sports events that contribute to building the human being. He also mentioned that the university is working on completing sports facilities, such as the swimming pool, which has a total cost of around 34 million Egyptian pounds, and which will be a distinctive addition to the sports infrastructure at Aswan University.

In his speech, Sheikh Hanfi Mahmoud Diab emphasized that, on the occasion of the Prophet’s birth, we must follow the example of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in all aspects of life, advising young people to make the most of their time and work hard to achieve the goals of the “New Beginning” initiative across various sectors.

Dr. Salah El-Sayed Nagi, Director-General of the Religious Guidance and Media Department of Al-Azhar in Aswan, highlighted the noble morals of the prophetic mission, which call for peace, love, tolerance, good character, and the avoidance of hatred and malice. He also stressed the importance of building young people’s futures away from drugs and other destructive phenomena, quoting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): “A strong believer is better than a weak believer,” especially in light of the risks and challenges facing the nation.

Prof. Adel Maki, Dean of Faculty of Sport Sciences, explained that, in line with the implementation of the presidential “Bedaya” initiative, the faculty will organize the Cultural and Sports Salon twice a month throughout the new academic year. The celebration began with a Quranic recitation, followed by the national anthem, and speeches from the distinguished guests. The event was titled “The Birth of the Prophet and the Achievements of the Egyptian State: A Nation’s Story,” and a documentary film was shown about the achievements of the Egyptian state and the recently inaugurated national and developmental projects.

On the sidelines of the event, a cooperation protocol was signed between Faculty of Sport Sciences and Shams Sports Club in Aswan, covering various areas such as exchanging expertise and organizing training courses in sports sciences to prepare students for the sports labor market.

At the conclusion of the event, students took commemorative photos with the university president and the distinguished guests.
