According to the importance of this task, A Natural Hazards Unit has been established few years ago (March 2013) for this purpose. It acts as expert house that offers information and support for local community and government.
Accordingly, the university also established a “Meteorological station” that helps in predicting the climate and taking the necessary precautions. The Central Laboratory for Agricultural Climate Research was established as a specialized scientific institution affiliated to the Agricultural Research Center at the Ministry of Agriculture. One of the fruits of serious and fruitful cooperation between Aswan University through the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources on the one hand and the Central Laboratory for Agricultural Climate on the other hand was the support of the faculty with an advanced meteorological station that serves the research and scientific aspects of the faculty members, the assistant staff and postgraduate students in the various departments of the faculty. This station provides comprehensive information about solar radiation, air and soil temperatures, wind speed and direction, etc., through a group of sensors. This information is available every hour throughout the day, provided with illustrations and graphs that show the different relationships between them, to make it easier for the researcher to understand the results.
