Introduction
This memorandum of understanding, signed on September 2017, establishes an agreement by and between:
Aswan University (AU), the Ministry of Higher Education, located at Sahary, Aswan, and the Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF), an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), located at Abdallah Osman Yacoub Street, Atlas, Aswan.
Whereas, the parties have agreed to work together with the goal of improving the quality of Education and services for students, thereby providing students with better prospects for future employability and a more holistic contribution to society.
Whereas, both parties wish to continue cooperation, and commit to extending the agreement for another five years as follows:
Represented Parties
First: Aswan University (AU), Ministry of Higher Education, located at Sahary, Aswan and represented in the signing of this agreement by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ghallab the University President (hereinafter referred to as “AU”);
Second: The Om Habibeh Foundation, an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), an Egyptian foundation registered under law 84 of 2002 for NGOs and foundations and located at Abdallah Osman Yacoub Street, Atlas, Aswan, and represented in the signing of this Agreement by Mr. Malik Kotadia, the Chief Executive Officer of the Om Habibeh Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “OHF”).
First Article: Cooperation Objectives
The co-operation intends to achieve the following,
Calling on technical partners and resources as required:
- Improve the skills of AU students entering the job market through providing training;
- Support the development of the career development center of AU in cooperation with American University in Cairo (AUC)
- Support the delivery of the entrepreneurship workshops, debates and community discussion and information sessions related to the entrepreneurship career path. Support the delivery of the Entrepreneurship training and raising the entrepreneurial skills set.
- Support the delivery of the Science of ECD to students and faculty members involved in the care of young children (from the faculties of Education, Nursing, Social Work amongst others)
- Co-ordinate with the Faculty of Agriculture to undertake research for new crops, soil, and water analysis, and provide linkages with rural small-holder farmers to provide technical support of traditional and strategic crops.
- Co-ordinate with the faculty of Veterinary Medicine to undertake awareness seminars and vet campaigns for both poultry and home-raised animals.
- Support the development and improvement of the faculty and teaching staff across the university
- Support the professional development of the central administration team and other sub-teams as directed by the President.
Second Article: Annex to the Main Interventions and Activities
Both parties will work together in developing detailed annexes to each of the proposed interventions, defining clearly the roles and responsibility of each party, and also details activities with time frame.
These annexes will be signed by the participating parties, and will be considered an integral part of the main agreement.
