Goals of the memorandum:-
* The two universities seek to cooperate in the field of education and research in areas of common interest between the following departments:
Faculty of Archeology – Aswan University
Master of Arts Program in Museum Studies, Southern University of New Orleans
A – Areas of Cooperation:
Specific areas of cooperation between the Master of Arts in Museum Studies program at Southern University in New Orleans and the Faculty of Archeology at Aswan University may include the following:
1 Exchange of academic staff.
2 Exchange of students.
3- Joint research activities and lectures and receiving lectures through e-learning.
4 Participation in seminars and academic meetings.
5- The exchange of published academic materials and other information.
6- Special short-term academic programs.
B- Exchange of academic staff :
1 – Although the host institution does not cover travel expenses and living costs for faculty members and exchange program researchers, the evaluation will be done on an individual basis in case additional financial support is needed.
2 The host institution shall provide office space and provide access to libraries and other facilities for the academic staff and researchers in the scientific exchange program.
3- The exchange between academic staff and researchers is usually for one or two semesters, and it is possible to obtain shorter stays, subject to the mutual agreement.
4 The exchange program between academic staff and researchers remains subject to the approval of the host institution.
5. Each university professor continues to receive his salary from the parent institution during the exchange program. As for the rewards specified for special projects, they are subject to special negotiations.
6- Visiting professors/researchers should be covered by the medical health insurance according to the rules and regulations of the host institutions / or the host government.
7- Teaching courses, working hours and working conditions must be in accordance with the rules and practices applicable in the host institution, subject to prior negotiation and approval.
8 Although the agreement between the Southern University in New Orleans and Aswan University is for the two departments mentioned above, cooperation between other departments in any other academic field can be considered according to each case separately and is subject to the prior approval of both universities.
C – Student exchange:
1- Exchange program students are accepted as undergraduate students for one or two semesters (fall or spring), or both semesters, and for one year as a maximum.
2 Exchange program students can take courses that grant credit hours, and the host institution must issue a statement and transcript for exchange program students according to the same rules and regulations that apply to its students seeking to obtain a scientific degree.
3 With regard to maintaining the principle of reciprocity, the host institution waives university fees for students of scientific exchange. However, the Master of Museum Studies program at Southern University in New Orleans will apply for an entry fee of $150.00 per semester for each exchange student. These fees cannot be waived.
4 The sending institution nominates students in the exchange program, and they are obligated to follow the established rules and procedures determined by the host institution.
5- The students of the scientific exchange program themselves, or the sponsor, or the sending institution shall bear the travel and living expenses set for the program.
6 Students are required to obtain the appropriate visas before traveling to each country.
7- The student/s of the scientific exchange program must submit a written certificate of financial support for living expenses to the host institution.
Memorandum Duration:
The validity period of this memorandum is three years from the beginning of its date (13 Shawwal 1439 AH corresponding to 27 June 2018 ).
