The Fifth International Conference on Energy Engineering was launched in Aswan

The Fifth International Conference activities on Energy Engineering, organized by Aswan University during the period from December 24 to 26, were launched.

Prof. Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed, President of Aswan University, stated that the university is working to host scientific conferences as part of its efforts to promote educational tourism, particularly because Aswan Governorate is known for its warm weather in the winter and serves as a global winter destination for many countries around the world. Although Aswan University includes two faculties ( Faculty of Energy Engineering – Faculty of Engineering) among its nineteen faculties, as well as the Institute of African Research and Studies and the Nile Basin Countries, it plays a societal role, particularly in the search for renewable and non-renewable energy alternatives.

The conference was attended by Prof. Ayman Othman, Vice President of Aswan University for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Adel Zein, Dean of the Faculty of Energy Engineering and Conference Chairman, Dr.Walid Anis, Vice- President of the Conference, Dr. Tarek Hegras, Secretary General of the Conference, and Dr. Elham Ibrahim, Vice- President of the World Energy Council.

The conference chairman, Prof. Adel Zein, affirmed that the Faculty of Energy Engineering in Aswan was one of the first engineering educational institutions in Upper Egypt, having been founded in 1989. He emphasized that the Energy Engineering Conference is a pioneering conference in Upper Egypt, specializing in all fields of energy engineering. The first conference was held in 2008, followed by the second, third, and fourth conferences in 2010, 2015, and 2017.

In his speech, the conference chairman stated that the conference provides a place for exchanging thoughts and information on present and future topics in power engineering. The conference also provides an excellent chance for industry to interact directly with university researchers, power equipment makers, and distributors, as well as debate a wide range of power system and environmental subjects.

For his part, Prof. Ayman Othman, Vice- President of Aswan University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, pointed out that an ambitious plan has been put in place to develop the university’s scientific research, which includes several axes, the most important of which are developing the infrastructure and research laboratories and allocating awards for scientific research, in addition to hosting incoming students, and there are about (700) incoming students from sister countries, in addition to hosting international scientific conferences, because they support scientific research and raise the classification.

The Vice President of the University stated that Aswan University was able to achieve first position globally in research criteria, and that Aswan appeared among the best (500) universities in the world out of (25,000) universities, emphasizing that staying at the top is more challenging than getting there.
