On the 16 th Feb 2023, Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, has an event of The 5th International Conference on Pain Treatment Addresses New Developments and Challenges in Pain Treatment, that was launched in Luxor over three days, where its activities began on Thursday corresponding to 16/2/202023 to 18/2/2023 in cooperation with the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Management, Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, England (UK) specialized in the treatment of pain in London.

In 2019, The Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Aswan University, has a collaboration with West China E-Business Company, a subsidiary of the Ningxia Center for Research in the Internet of Things Technology in Agriculture, and the China-Arab Countries Technology Transfer Center (CASTTC) in the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

The collaboration includes the implementation of the open field water-saving smart irrigation management system project. According to the development needs of Egyptian agriculture, this project provides advanced technology and equipment to provide water in the field of agriculture to Aswan University, and the project will be located in the grape field (as an open field) and in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture.

The aim of this project is to conduct research and demonstrate a water-saving smart irrigation system based on Internet of Things technology. At the same time, this project can facilitate the daily management and field experiment.

Aswan University has a strong collaborative partnership with international partners in order to review comparative approaches and develop international best practice on tackling the SDGs. In 2019, Aswan University is working on boosting the international collaboration regarding the implementation of SDGs. One of these various forms of collaboration is the collaboration with USAID through the partnership in the Center of Excellence for Energy (life of project: February 2019 – February 2024).This project is in cooperation with the USAID and some other Egyptian Universities, to build the research, education, and entrepreneurial capacity of Aswan University, Ain Shams, and Mansoura Universities to address the country’s most pressing energy-related challenges.

Strategically, the primary objectives are to build local capacity for organization and pursuit of a number of market-driven applied research projects that address Egypt’s needs in the energy sector, while simultaneously promoting an inclusive educational culture that focuses on solving local and global problems.

Another partnership “The Center of Excellence for Water” (life of project: February 2019 – February 2024), that was inaugurated on September 12th, 2019 at the Faculty of Engineering – Alexandria University with the presence of the consortium representatives from US and Egyptian Universities, Egyptian private sector companies and several Ministries and Public entities in Egypt. this project is designed to be a state of the art, modern applied research center located within the premises of Alexandria University (AU), Egypt. The Center will be the hub for research and a vibrant network of Egyptian industries, research centers, and ministries.

The Consortium of the project includes several prestigious US and Egyptian universities:  University of California at Santa Cruz, Utah State University, Washington State University, Temple University, Ain Shams University, Aswan University, Beni Suef University and Zagazig University.

The consortium also includes a number of US and Egyptian private sector companies and NGOs: SEKEM Group, Lotus Company, Demerdash Group, Engazaat Development, and the NGO IBSAR, as well as AECOM, Amriton LLC, Apogee Instruments, Carollo Engineers, FREDsense Technologies, Purolite Corporation and Waters Corporation.

During the 5 years duration of the project, the project consortium will be working on developing and demonstrating sustainable governance systems to boost Egyptian research capacity in the field of water, while at the same time enhancing the capacity of Egyptian students and faculty through the creation of four high quality professional degrees, developing a full M.Sc. program and enhancing at least 12 courses that are already taught at Egyptian Universities. The project consortium plans to grant at least 40 small, medium and large research projects, in addition to facilitating the exchange of 350 students to study either at U.S. partner universities or AUC, give access to disadvantaged students to study at the Center of Excellence in Alexandria, provide 100 internship opportunities at US/Egyptian industries, enable 192 Egyptian faculty to be trained in the US and, allow 150 faculty and staff to be trained at the AUC, and allow for 40 visits of US faculty to train hundreds in Egypt.
