10.6.9 Disability access scheme

Aswan University provides access schemes for people with disabilities with many different forms of support:

Mentoring:

Aswan University follows anti-racism and anti-discrimination policies against unrepresented groups. Therefore, Aswan University has established policies to ensure that people with disabilities are properly represented in all activities and participations. They are concerned with admission to the university and have the right to choose the study programs and departments that best suit them.

Aswan University offers many services and different forms of support at all levels available to people with disabilities.
 

Aswan University has developed an Access-And-Participation-Plan 2022-2023″ to address any gap within any group that may be underrepresented, and plans to reduce these gaps.

Access and Participation Plan 2020-2021 

The Social Solidarity Unit at Aswan University has launched an initiative that calls for equal inclusion, a People Like Us initiative to integrate and support students with disabilities in the university community.

Financial Aid:

Aswan University provides funding support for students and employees with disabilities, by providing them with a financial aid. As well, helping them with the housing expenses and all forms of financial aid are available concerning the cases needing support.

The university provides total financial support for students with disabilities through The Social Solidarity Program

Aswan University offers an “integrated services card for people with disabilities” through the university’s Social Solidarity Unit affiliated to the Ministry of Social Solidarity. These cards give their holders (students – employees) many advantages, the most important of which are, free examination in hospitals, access to government housing, customs exemption on compensatory devices, exemption from customs duties on a disabled car, exemption from taxes and many other advantages.

Procedures for obtaining the card and terms and conditions:

  1. Register on the Ministry of Health and Population website to get an appointment for a health examination
  2. It should be noted that registration is done from a device connected to a printer to print the registration form
  3. Type the national number and wait for the review to complete, and the “Write the rest of the data” icon will appear
  4. A specialized medical committee undertakes the medical examination of the registrar
  5. In case of approval, the type of disability is determined and a medical report is approved and submitted to the electronic system for receipt by the Social Solidarity Unit.
  6. The citizen registers on the website of the Ministry of Social Solidarity to obtain an appointment and place for the job exam

Aspects of the assistance provided in the service by the Social Solidarity Unit:

1- Assisting and submitting a request to students or employees on the Ministry of Health and Solidarity websites and printing the registration form

2- Follow up on the request and inquire about it through the communication device with the data of the Ministry of Solidarity located inside the unit at the university.

3- Solve any problems or obstacles related to the applications through direct communication with the competent department of the Ministry of Social Solidarity

4- Reissue cards that have not been received for a long time
