Introduction
Aswan University is dedicated to becoming a pioneer in sustainability, not only regionally but also globally. We understand the unique challenges faced in our area and country and recognize the importance of addressing them to create a sustainable future. This policy outlines our commitment to sustainability and sets the path towards achieving ambitious goals, including the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Our mission extends to enhancing the quality of human resources in the South Valley area, meeting the specific needs of our community, and fostering enduring partnerships for education and social services.

4. Sustainability Goals and Objectives

  • Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050: Aswan University commits to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. We will take a comprehensive approach, focusing on renewable energy adoption, energy efficiency measures, and sustainable transportation to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Aswan University embraces the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guiding framework for our sustainability efforts. We aim to integrate the SDGs into our education, research, and community engagement activities. By 2030, we aspire to be ranked among the top 50 universities globally for SDG implementation, and 1st in Africa and Egypt, showcasing our dedication to influencing and leading on the global sustainability stage.
  • Local Challenges and Solutions: We recognize the unique challenges faced by our area and country, including water scarcity, desertification, poverty, hunger, and inequalities. Aswan University will develop targeted sustainability solutions that address these challenges through research, education, and community engagement.
