University Centers for Career Development Project launches the first career readiness program

University Centers for Career Development Project launches the first career readiness program under the patronage of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with support from the United States Agency for International Development, and in partnership with Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation.

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_Aswan University President_ said that the University Centers for career Development project aims to provide career guidance services to millions of students through 46 centers in 34 universities throughout Egypt. The American University team also trains and qualifies the work teams at university centers for Career development as career facilitators so that they can provide career guidance services to university students. The project also works closely with universities to prepare sustainability plans for the centers so that they can provide career services and support to students after the project ends. It is responsible for identifying needs and gaps in the labor market by conducting field studies and surveys and establishing partnerships with business owners, and then providing the necessary information to universities to reflect the results of these studies in curricula and study programs in various specializations.

Prof.  Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat_ Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, added that the University Centers for Career Development project celebrated the launch of the first career readiness program under patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with support from the United States Agency for International Development, and in partnership with the Magdi Yacoub Foundation, on Sahari University campus, in attendance of Prof. Mohamed Abdel Aziz Mehalal, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and representatives of the United States Agency for International Development, the American University in Cairo, and representatives of Aswan University, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Fourty students from the faculty and institute of Nursing joined the ceremony. Pre-graduation nurses who successfully passed the qualifying examinations for the program out of a total of 150 applicants. The next stages of the program were explained and a pledge of commitment was signed by the students for the upcoming training stages. The ceremony also included a recorded speech from Prof. Magdi Yaqoub, during which he expressed his celebration of the initiative and cooperation between all parties involved in the cooperation, and also welcomed the students joining the training program.

Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Mehalal, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, explained that this program is the first of its kind, as it provides pre-graduation students of the Faculty and Institute of Nursing at Aswan University with a variety of training, including practical life skills, employment skills, digital skills, and the English language. It will also include technical training for first aid provided by the Magdy Yacoub Heart Foundation, in addition to giving 10 distinguished students the opportunity to have practical training inside the Magdy Yacoub Heart Hospital in Aswan, in order to acquire the skills necessary for the labor market.

This program comes within the framework of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s direction towards achieving the goal of work readiness to pave the way for university programs that will build a bridge between the outcomes of higher education and the labor market. This program is one of the effective means that will combine life skills and technical training provided by the best institutes and professionals. Experience to ensure efficiency and quality of training. The partnership with the Magdy Yacoub Heart Foundation comes as the first partnership that launches the Career Readiness Program, in its first session, out of belief in its effective role and as a role model for scientific, medical and cognitive excellence.
