On Sunday, Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan, and Dr. Loai Saad El-Din Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, inaugurated the Nasser City building for female students after completing renovation and maintenance works. These inaugurations are part of the celebration of the glorious October victories and are aligned with the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Egyptian Citizen,” attended by Major General Ayman Sherif, the General Secretary, Major General. Mohamed Abdel- Jalil, the Assistant Secretary, Seyed Madani, Head of Aswan City and Center, Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, the university’s engineering consultant, along with several university leaders and students.
During the inauguration of Nasser City, Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal stated that Aswan University represents as an expertise center for the governorate, emphasizing the close cooperation between both parties in various scientific, research, and medical fields. He added that this inauguration represents a new achievement for Aswan University, which is currently experiencing significant development, reflecting the political leadership’s interest in Egyptian universities and the state’s considerable attention to the youth and students of Aswan University.
The Governor praised the high-quality preparations of the university hostels, aimed at creating a conducive environment for the educational process for students. He also congratulated the female students on the opening of the new Nasser City building.
Dr. Loai Saad El-Din Nasrat mentioned that the opening of the new Nasser City building for female students increases the accommodation capacity of the university hostels at Aswan University, which accommodates over three thousand students annually, particularly for expatriate students and those with special needs, who will be housed in various university hostels at the start of the academic year 2024/2025.
The President of Aswan University explained that the university has seven university hostels, five for female students and two for male students, with a total capacity nearly three thousand students. The cost of the Nasser City for female students was 14 million Egyptian pounds. The distribution of students includes 160 female students in the Female students’ hostel in Al-Samad area, 900 female students in the Female students’ hostel in the Sahari area, 630 male students in the Male Students Hostel in Abi El-Rish, 224 female students in Sail hostel, 192 female students in Young Muslim Woman building, 220 male students in the guesthouse, and 616 female students in the newly opened Nasser City, providing a new opportunity for housing more students this academic year.
Nasser City for female students consists of two buildings, each with two entrances: the first entrance is “Al-Firdaws” and the second is “Al-Ridwan,” comprising a total of 24 apartments with a capacity of 336 female students. The second building also has two entrances: “Al-Naeem” and “Al-Khuld,” containing 20 apartments with a capacity of 280 female students.
It is noteworthy that the Governor of Aswan and the President of Aswan University inaugurated the Nasser City building for female students and inspected the building’s rooms, as well as toured the Young Muslim woman building to ensure the university Hostels are ready to provide quality services to students.
Eng. Mohamed Abdel-Salam, General Director of University Hostels at Aswan University, pointed out that the university Hostels offer accommodation and food services that suit their needs, in addition to internet services and other amenities to ensure comfort and safety for university students.
