As part of its commitment to supporting women’s issues and enhancing cultural awareness among female students, Aswan University, led by Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat, Acting President of the University, is participating in the 9th edition of the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival. The event is being hosted in Aswan Governorate from May 2 to 7, 2025, with support from the Egyptian Ministries of Culture and Tourism, in partnership with the European Union and UN Women.
Prof. Nasrat emphasized that the university is keen to actively participate in this international cultural and artistic event. Daily groups of female students attend film screenings that shed light on women’s issues and their roles in Arab, African, and European societies—whether in politics, science, medicine, the arts, or everyday life—reflecting women’s voices and concerns amidst societal changes.
He noted that the screenings are being held at various venues, including the Misr Public Library Theater, Cinema Hall at the Arous El-Nil Hotel, and the Open-Air Theater. So far, more than 50 films have been screened, showcasing a wide range of artistic works that reflect the richness and diversity of women’s experiences around the world.
Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat added that this participation aligns with the university’s strategy to promote artistic culture and broaden female students’ perspectives on women’s issues in both cinema and society.
