Based on the directives of the university officials, the university cities have been able to accommodate the largest number of expatriate students, to facilitate parents and reduce the financial burden on families.
The university cities did not become places of accommodation and food for students, rather, their role and concept went beyond to a more comprehensive concept, to include various aspects of social, cultural, artistic, sports and medical care, in addition to the development of human and family interdependence between supervision and students, where student replaces his natural family with a family that plays its role, so that the discrepancy continues the student’s social life is in the fullest form of guidance and direction and according to a list that shows the student’s rights and duties in a society in which everyone melts in one crucible, whether he is a supervisor, a student or an official so that the student feels safe and secure, and everyone shows what they have of their creative energies whether educationally, culturally or sportingly, their nation and university cities are proud of them upon their graduation.
The university cities are supervised by a board of directors headed by Vice -President for Education and Student Affairs to set the general policy for the university cities and to suggest any amendments (that keep pace with developments from course of events and the reasons for development) on the articles of the university cities list as well as the financial and administrative systems and the residence system and approves University Council this regulation.

- Giving students the opportunity to get acquainted with students from other faculties and different societies.

- Holding religious, cultural and scientific seminars continuously to educate students.
- Providing libraries that contain scientific and study books to help students develop thinking and academic comprehension
- Focus students’ goals on the public interest rather than the private interest.

The General Administration of University Cities and Nutrition is one of the important and vital departments at Aswan University, and it works 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As it takes full care of expatriate students and provides them with accommodation and subsistence, in addition to recreational programs and student activities, whether social, sports or cultural, which are prepared by the competent authorities in university cities, and in which the effective role of the services sector at the university is completed to sponsor and support the educational process.
