Aswan University among the first category universities Q1 globally in research quality, and shared with the top universities in Times Ranking 2024.

        Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University President_ announced that the results of the British Times Ranking in its new edition for 2024, confirmed global distinction for Aswan University in the scientific research quality index, Aswan University ranked 427th among international universities in scientific research quality index.

       Aswan University also ranked in the category 801-1000 in the general Ranking, and shared with the universities of (Al-Azhar, Alexandria, Cairo, Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh, Mansoura, Zagazig, and the American University in Cairo) in the same category.

      Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Orabi_ Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research and Supervisor of the International Ranking Office, stated that Aswan University emerged for fifth year in a row, global distinction in the international ranking, explained that this edition of the ranking witnessed fundamental changes and revisions in the Ranking methodology. Despite these reviews, which in turn affected various universities, Aswan University is not an exception, but Aswan University has maintained its presence among the first category universities among top 500 universities, ranked 427 in the scientific research quality index, Despite the superiority and distinction in the scientific research quality index, there is some decline in the general Ranking for several reasons, the most important of which is global competitiveness. And updating the Ranking methodology and standards to change from 13 standards to 18 to include new standards that the classifier considers them more transparent and comprehensive. For example, the Research Strength criterion, the FWCI citation impact is calculated after excluding the highest 25% of the most cited research from the total published research for the institution. The remaining 75% is calculated for the most highly cited research, in order to measure the strength of the total published research and exclude the influence of a group of very highly cited research.

     Orabi explained that this global distinction in the scientific research quality index would not have been achieved without the dedication of researchers and scientists at Aswan University, whose unwavering commitment led to this wonderful achievement. We must constantly work to improve the overall Ranking.

     This Ranking coincides with the celebration of “Day of superiority of Egyptian Universities” which witnessed Honoring His Excellency President/ Al-sisi to top graduates, including the top graduates of Aswan University.

       Orabi congratulated Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ University president_ Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat_ Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and the distinguished scholars and researchers of Aswan University, Academic staff, their assistants, employees, students, and all associates of Aswan University.

      Mostafa Gendy_ Director of the International Ranking Office, expressed his confidence in Aswan University standing. He highlighted the exceptional achievement for the fifth year in a row. He stated that this achievement is not a coincidence, as five scientists from Aswan University are among the top 2% of scientists in the world in their scientific specializations.

        The new WUR 3.0 methodology was based on 18 performance indicators (instead of 13 previously) that were carefully calibrated in the field of education, scientific research, knowledge transfer and international cooperation. It is worth noting that the International Ranking Office is working on studying the various new standards carefully and provide studies and proposals to enhance the university’s position and work to improve the international Ranking.
