The British Times announced this evening the fourth edition of “THE Impact Ranking 2022” concerned with achieving sustainable development Goals.
Aswan University has obtained the best ranking for itself and for any Egyptian university since the launch of the first version of this ranking in 2019, whereas it ranked 67th at the level of international universities and first in Egypt and Africa.
It is worth noting that for the second year in a row, Aswan University is among the top 100 international universities in the British Times ranking to achieve the sustainable development goals, as it came in last year’s Ranking in 95th place, and the ranking of Aswan University for this year is as follows:
-It Ranked 67th place at the level of world
-1st place at the level of Egyptian and African Universities
-24th place in terms of Zero Hunger Index “SDG2”
-301st -400th in terms of Good Health and Wellbeing Index “SDG3”
-201st -300th in Quality Education Index “SDG4”
-301st -400th place in Gender Equality Index “SDG5”
-7th place in affordable and clean energy index “SDG7”
– 301st -400th in Reduced Inequalities Index “SDG10
– 48th place in terms of Sustainable Cities and Communities Index “SDG11”
– 98th in Climate Action Index “SDG13”
-53rd place in terms of partnerships for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG17).
Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Mehalal Orabi_ Director of the Ranking Office_ declared that Aswan University, since the first day, has taken upon itself the responsibility to work diligently to achieve the goals of sustainable development in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030. In order to achieve this goal, the university has devoted all its energies and capabilities available to provide all means for quality education. Ensuring that everyone has access to it without discrimination. Elimination of all forms of discrimination and inequality and other sustainable development goals.
Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Mehalal Orabi, Director of the Ranking Office, explained that the university’s role in achieving sustainable development goals is evident through its appearance for the fourth year in a row in the British Times Ranking to achieve the sustainable development goals. This ranking is one of the British Times Rankings issued annually to compare the performance of universities globally. It measures the contribution and performance of each university in relation to each of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, such as health and well-being, reducing inequality, gender equality, climate action, and good education.
The Ranking is based on the criteria of real and documented participation of the university’s activities related to the achievement of the seventeen sustainable development goals as one of the indicators of success in advancing the university’s role in developing the surrounding community.
Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Mehalal Orabi_ Director of the International Ranking Office, also congratulated Dr. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University President, Academic staff, their assistants, employees, students, and all Aswan University staff.
