Aswan University’s Quality Assurance Center Holds Symposium Entitled “Self-Assessment Model for Faculties & Higher Institutes”

Under the auspices of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, Aswan university president, Aswan university’s quality assurance and accreditation center held a seminar entitled (Self-Assessment Model for Faculties and Higher Institutes) under the supervision of Dr. Nady Kamal Aziz, manager of Aswan university’s quality assurance and accreditation center. Training was conducted by Dr. Atef Shehata Youssef, manager of Aswan University’s faculty and leadership development center. The symposium handled the roles played by technical support team in Quality Assurance Unit in Aswan university faculties, in coordination with the university’s main center for quality assurance and accreditation, to prepare a report on the faculty’S or higher institute’s self-evaluation, in preparation for the development and modification of the faculty’s self-study.

 Dr. Nady Kamal Aziz stressed that the symposium made it clear that self-evaluation includes evaluation of the institutional capacity axis in light of the criteria of that axis. It also includes the evaluation of the axis of educational effectiveness in light of the criteria of that axis of National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education “NAQAAE”.

  Technical support team examines the documents submitted by the institution, and draws up an initial report, and accordingly:

  A- Developing a hypothesis about the institution’s current situation.

  B – Determining the gap between the institution’s status, evaluation and accreditation criteria.

  C – Developing an initial action plan to bridge the gap (ranging from one to 4 months depending on the results of the gap study).

The team is paying the first technical support visit, which includes:-

  A- Discussing with the institution the results of the examined documents and agreeing on a work plan, and logistical arrangements.

  B – Implementation of workshops on the techniques of preparing a self-study, strategic plan, specification and reports of programs and courses, and so on.

The team pays visits for technical support to implement the action plan, which lasts a maximum of 4 months, with a weekly or bi-weekly visit, provided that the work day begins at nine am and ends at three pm.

  The  team also prepares a report on each visit which includes the measures taken by the faculty based on the previous visit, what was accomplished during the visit, and the assignments required by the faculty to prepare it for the next visit.

*self-evaluation:-

      It includes an assessment of the institutional capacity axis in light of the criteria of that axis, and an evaluation of the axis of educational effectiveness in light of the criteria of that axis of National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education “NAQAAE”.

 The symposium was concluded by answering the questions of academic staff and their assistants.
