On Sunday, March 27, 2022, Aswan University Hospitals organized a medical Convoy for Kom Ombo General Hospital, featuring eleven specialties. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Osman, President of Aswan University; Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals; and Dr. Ashraf Mebed, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, supervised by Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Amin, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environment Development.
Prof. Osman emphasized the importance of Aswan University’s role in the community, highlighting that the university acts as a center of expertise and that it and the community are two sides of the same coin and the medical Convoy aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s vision, reflecting the state’s commitment to citizen health and easing the living burden on residents of Aswan. He listened to some health issues faced by patients and discussed sending more Medical Convoys in various specialties.
Prof. El-Dahshouri stated that the Convoy included eleven different medical specialties: general surgery, vascular, pediatrics, dermatology, orthopedics, urology, Ear, Nose and Throat, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology.
The medical Convoys organized by Faculty of Medicine at Aswan University are among the most significant positive steps for the Aswan community, providing excellent medical services and alleviating the difficulties of travel for patients from remote areas, while also facilitating easy access to health services.
Prof. Amin, Vice dean for Community service and environment development affairs mentioned that these medical Convoys are part of a series of educational service Convoys organized by Faculty of Medicine and Aswan University Hospital as part of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative to ensure a dignified life for citizens. He noted that the Convoys to Kom Ombo Hospital is not the first; previous educational service Convoys have been launched for Kom Ombo area, featuring a distinguished group of professors, doctors, and consultants from Faculty of Medicine at Kom Ombo General Hospital and Aswan University Hospital in various specialties.
