Aswan University has improved a Policy to end hunger. Therefore, Aswan University is committed to provide sustainable food and address students and staff needing this support.

Aswan University provides support for staff and students with affordable food. Some forms of support that Aswan University provides, it is providing lunch bonuses for students and staff with subsidized prices, and for free in some cases, according to University Council Decisions for several academic years; 2020-2021 & 2022-2023 & 2023-2024 that assure students, employees and staff who have difficulty having their food, to have these service and support.
This program provides enough food of adequate quality through local production or imports (including food aid).

The program also allows access by individuals (students – workers – faculty members) to sufficient resources (entitlements) to obtain appropriate food through the appropriate diet, clean water, sanitation, and health care to reach a state of nutritional well-being where all physiological needs are met to achieve food security.

Aswan University always strives to harness all its capabilities to achieve sustainable food self-sufficiency to meet the needs of students, staff, faculty and the local community, through plant, animal, poultry and fish production farms. The university sells the products of these farms to students and university employees. These products are also used in the food production process in the central restaurant.

The university provides free access for students, employees, and faculty staff to the university’s Central Restaurant, through which healthy, fresh and varied meals are served. Where the restaurant provides menus with the available meals, and the ordered meals are prepared after informing the restaurant management.

The university is also working on exploiting the dry, hot, and harsh desert nature of Aswan Governorate, where the university has a “Research unit for the study of tropical plants” that works to increase agricultural productivity, raise its efficiency and produce new strains. It is a plant that is resistant to difficult climatic conditions such as drought. Hot Spots “using the latest agricultural and biological technologies and methods.
