Social Solidarity Unit organizes Sign Language Basics Course

Under patronage of Ms. Nevin Al-Kabbaj _ Minister of Social Solidarity, and under the supervision of Prof. Salah Hashem – Advisor of the Ministry of Social Solidarity for social policies and General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units in Egyptian universities.

In light of concern of the social solidarity units in Egyptian universities to integrate students with special needs within the university community by opening communication between them and their colleagues.

The Social Solidarity Unit at Aswan University organizes the “Basics of Sign Language course” as a first step to open communication between students of deaf and hard of hearing people with their colleagues.

The course will be held at Faculty of Specific Education at Aswan University From 30/11/2021 to 2/12/2021.

The first day of sign language basics training at Faculty of Specific Education, Aswan University, within the events of the International Day of People with Special Needs.

Whereas the training and the first day were opened by Prof. Bassem Zaher – Vice Dean of Faculty of Specific Education for Student Affairs.

Whereas the students discussed the need to help each other, take care of students with special needs, help them, and try to provide their needs as much as possible.

For her part, Ms. Basma Abd Allah Ghareeb – official of protection and empowerment in the Social Solidarity Unit_ Aswan University_ clarified the unit’s role in helping people of special needs and the mechanisms for benefiting from the unit’s services.

Whereas Prof / Khaled Saber Al-Sheikh – official of awareness activities of the social solidarity unit at Aswan University, explained the important role of the social solidarity units in universities through raising awareness and building the Egyptian identity.

During his speech, a training session was held on effective communication and its basics.

This came within the important role of Prof/ Mostafa Al-Ghali – Sign language trainer By clarifying the basics of description and he started his speech by explaining the beginnings of sign language and from where sign language began and the definition of sign language and its basics.

Deaf and hard of hearing students attended at the faculty to watch their colleagues during learning and seeking to gain a skill that help them to communicate with each other, and accompanied by  Mr/ Mohamed Abdel-Salam, Mr / Ahmed Zakaria, and Mrs. / Ahlam Khaled – sign language translators.
