Prof.Ahmed Ghallab- Aswan University President, praised the opening of the project of reducing the groundwater level in Kom Ombo temple for its great role in preserving the wonderful human heritage inside this unique temple.
Through ceremony of the project carried out by the US Agency for International Development in attendance with Mark Green the manager of the agency, Dr.Khaild Al Anani-Minister of Archaeology, General.Ahmed Ibrahim-Aswan Governor, which cost $ 8.8 million.
He added that this project will preserve the foundations of the temple from the leakage of groundwater, which increased significantly because of the growing cultivation around the temple, which did not exist in ancient times, this leading to contributing to ending of this problem, which the temple suffered from it for many years.
He pointed out that Aswan University is participating in a similar project implemented by Aswan Governorate in cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology to get rid of the groundwater that the city of Aswan currently suffers.
