Aswan University President Attends a workshop Organized in Collaboration with the Supreme Council of Universities and the British Council

In collaboration with the British Council and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a workshop entitled “Internationalization in Egyptian Universities: Goals and Opportunities” was organized for the second day. The event was attended by Prof. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, university presidents, their deputies, and international cooperation officials from Egyptian public universities. In addition to Prof. Mona Hagras, Assistant Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, and Ms. Shaimaa El-Banna, Head of Education at the British Council.

Prof. John McGoveran, Higher Education Advisor at the British Council in Cairo, gave a lecture discussing the ways to internationalize higher education, setting goals, and exploring their feasibility. This included developing academic programs and the potential for partnerships between Egyptian and British universities to establish joint postgraduate programs and research in shared fields of interest, as well as exchanging expertise among Academic staff and researchers. The current partnerships between Egyptian and British universities were also reviewed.

Prof. John McGoveran expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Ministry of Higher Education to achieve its ambitious vision for the development of higher education in Egypt. He emphasized the importance of supporting these efforts and praised Egypt’s leadership role in the region, highlighting the progress made in building strategic partnerships with leading global institutions. He called for further collaboration and support for international cooperation.
