African Studies and Nile Basin States Institute held a symposium entitled ” the significance of the African languages nowadays” under the patronage of Aswan university president Prof. Ahmed Ghallab. The colloquium was lectured by the vice president of graduate studies and research Prof. Ayman Othman, the dean of the institute Prof. Al Sayed Ewies Omran, the vice dean Prof. Maher Ibrahim, the chairman of African languages at Al Azhar university Prof. Ayman Al Aasar, Dr. Hossam Ramadan, lecturer of Swahili Language and the rapporteur of the symposium, Dr. Shawky Al Faramaway, lecturer of Hausa literature. It was introduced by the media man Mr. Khaled Al Noby and attended by the institute’s academic staff, students as well as pressmen. It recommended paying attention to African development. the symposium illustrated Aswan university’s efforts towards Africa and its keenness on teaching the African languages and fulfilling the effective connection with the African countries.
