Today, the National Council for Women implemented a meeting at Faculty of Agriculture, Aswan University, within the activities of the campaign “Combating Domestic Violence and Explaining its Impact on Society”, which the Council organizes in cooperation with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, represented by the Al-Azhar International Center for Electronic Fatwa, within the framework of the 16-day campaign of activities to combat violence against women. Which the council is implementing this year under the slogan “Be yourself” in attendance of Dr. Hoda Mostafa_ Rapporteur of the National Council for Women branch in Aswan, Dr. Osama Al-Hadidi_Executive Director of Al-Azhar International Center for Fatwa_ Dr. Magdi Mohamed Ali_ Vice President of the Chancellor of the President of Aswan University, Dr. Reda Al-Sibai, Member of the Technical Office of His Eminence the Great Imam, Ms. Nourhan Zeinhom and Mr. Mohamed Ramadan_ representatives of the Women’s Complaints Office at the National Council for Women, in addition to a number of Academic staff and university students.
Dr. Hoda Mostafa explained that the “Combating Domestic Violence and Demonstrating its Impact on Society” initiative in Aswan Governorate, as the second governorate after Ismailia Governorate, will address some deeply rooted customs and traditions that contribute significantly to domestic violence practices, pointing to correcting some misconceptions of violence against women within the family. The causes and forms of domestic violence and its impact on children, health disputes and their treatment through dialogue between family members.
Dr. Osama Al-Hadidi greeted the attendees participating in the meeting and praised the cooperation protocol between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the National Council for Women, which aims to reunite the Egyptian family and seek family bonding, referring to the good example represented in the House of Prophecy, and how intimacy and affection are established in homes and how to combat domestic violence. Which results in a lot of corruptions, which may lead to neglect of the family and the impact on work.
Ms. Nourhan Zeinhom made a speech on the role of the Women’s Complaints Office of the National Council for Women in receiving women’s complaints and working to resolve them through a group of lawyers at the governorate level to solve women’s problems, or refer them to the competent authorities, referring to the objectives of the cooperation protocol with the reunion unit of the Al-Azhar International Center for Electronic Fatwa.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, witnessed yesterday the launch of the activities of the campaign “Combating Domestic Violence and Demonstrating its Impact on Society” in the Executive Council Hall at the governorate’s headquarters, in the presence of Dr. In addition to a number of religious leaders, executive and popular leaders in the governorate.
