As part of the implementation of the presidential initiative “New Beginning for Human Development” launched by His Excellency President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, and under the slogan “100 Days of Sports”, the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Aswan University is organizing a two-day sports program. The event is being held under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Major General. Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan, Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, in attendance of Dr. Mustafa Bayoumi, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Adel Mekki, Dean of Faculty of Sport Sciences. The event also witnessed broad participation from executive, community, parliamentary, and sports leaders in Aswan Governorate, as well as students from the university.
Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat, President of Aswan University, stated that the university attaches great importance to implementing student activities and sports and cultural events to achieve the goals of the “New Beginning for Human Development” presidential initiative. He pointed out that these activities aim to refine the students’ skills and creative abilities, enhance their personalities, and develop their mental and physical capacities. He also confirmed that these events are part of the “Presidential Initiative: Sports is National Security”, and the program includes various activities, such as swimming and kayaking at the Aswan Rowing Club.
Prof. Adel Mekki, Dean of Faculty of Sport Sciences at Aswan University, added that the activities kicked off today, Wednesday, under the slogan “100 Days of Sports.” They began with a race ceremony within the campus in the Sahari area, followed by a 2-kilometer walking race within the campus. The day’s events also included recreational competitions and team games, such as basketball, volleyball, and tennis, in addition to a showcase of the “100 Days of Sports” activities at the Mashir Tantawi Hall. The sports day concluded with the signing of a joint cooperation protocol between the Student Sports Union, the Governorate of Aswan, and Aswan University.
