13.3.1 local education programmes or campaigns on climate change risks, impacts, mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning

The Community Service Affairs and Environment Development Sector at the Faculty of Science has the honor to invite you to attend an educational symposium entitled “The Effects of Climate Change on Water”, and Prof. Ali Mohamed Ali Hamdan – Head of the Geology Department will be the lecturer. This symposium is part of a series of educational seminars to raise awareness of climate change.
 

 
 In frame of the concern of Aswan University, headed by Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman _Aswan University President_ in scientific research by participating in scientific and research conferences, a team of Aswan University scientists participated in response to the invitation from Ain Shams University to Aswan University to represent Aswan University in a meeting of Egyptian-German experts dialogue on climate change and based on the directives of Prof. Ayman Othman_ Aswan University President _ to agree to participate in this joint scientific meeting.
 
 
Aswan University established the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Control Unit was established by Resolution No. 1039 dated October 20, 2022, issued by Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_University President, which includes the formation of the Unit’s Board of Directors headed by Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Orabi_ Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research_ The Board of Directors also includes The unit director (a member of Academic staff ) and five members of the council are from university Academic staff.
 
One of the unit’s goals is Providing training, educational and educational services to the university community and the surrounding community related to achieving sustainable development goals.

 

Aswan University is working to consolidate and increase awareness among the local and external community about the risks of change climate and its effects, mitigating and adapting to it, reducing its impact and early warning, through:

Aswan University, in cooperation with the International Center for Consultation and Public Services, organized The Training and Sustainable Development Program to discuss many special topics, as well as the ecosystem, global warming, environment and sustainable development, and how sustainable environmental and industrial development in the service of investment and linking it to the green industry and the sustainable environment, where the program aims to Protecting the environment and working on community service raises many environmental and societal issues through training and work to spread awareness and increase environmental culture among university students to consolidate the importance of preserving the environment.

For postgraduate studies also, Aswan University has participated in the MSc program in Climate Change, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (CCSAFS). The main objective of this project is to respond to identified needs by developing an interdisciplinary MSc program in Climate Change, Agricultural Development and Food Security that will help advance the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 13, by providing students with the skills and tools to develop new agricultural practices, policies and measures to meet the challenge posed by climate change to agriculture and food security in the two target countries and in the MENA region.

Aswan University participated in the NRMDD program for postgraduate studies. The NRMDD program targets graduates of practical colleges such as agriculture, engineering, science, fisheries technology, and veterinary medicine to provide them with knowledge and skills in the fields of agriculture and land reclamation.

Aswan University & Heliopolis University in cooperation with Frederick University in Cyprus bring contemporary – pioneer programs in the field of postgraduate studies in Education. The Master ICT in ESD was initiated by the UNESCO Chair ICT in ESD and developed through the collaboration of seven European Universities including Frederick University and funded by the European Commission Lifelong Learning Erasmus Program. Blended learning version will be offered in Egypt in cooperation with Frederick University through face-to-face classes at Heliopolis University and Aswan University Premises.

The MSc. on “ICT in Education for Sustainable Development” is an international inter- disciplin- ary programme that merges theory with practice and focuses on developing competence and skill on Education for Sustainable Development enabled by ICTs and delivered through blended learning approach.
