Under auspices of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman – Aswan University President – Dr. Mohamed Zaki El Dahshoury – Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals – met today with Prof. Adel Abdel- Aziz _ Professor of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Faculty of Medicine_ Sohag University_ and a consultant to the World Health Organization For chronic diseases and President of the International Federation of Non-communicable Diseases – and the accompanying delegation, in attendance of Dr. Ashraf Mebed – Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals – and Dr. Mostafa Al-Tiri_ Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs _ and Dr. Ahmed Sorour _ official of the World Health Organization_ in order to activate the first initiative From the World Health Organization to cooperate with Aswan University Hospitals.
Dr. Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshoury declared that the visit aims to activate the Nile Valley initiative in cooperation with Faculty of Medicine_ Aswan University_ headed by Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, and supervised by Dr. Mohamed Abd El-aziz Orabi – Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research – to serve the Sudanese brothers who suffer from chronic diseases, with providing medical and therapeutic care to patients from the brotherly state of Sudan, and this comes within the framework of activating the training cooperation protocol approved by the World Health Organization in Aswan University hospitals to train young doctors and the nursing staff. The meeting also includes discussing the establishment of a headquarters for the World Health Organization in Aswan University hospitals to serve medicines of the governorate and the two parties also discussed the possibility of signing a cooperation protocol in the near future with Dr. Ayman Othman. This meeting is considered an introductory meeting to discuss the axes of joint cooperation between the two sides by preparing the terms of the cooperation protocol formally.
Dr. Adel Abdel-Aziz and his accompanying delegation praised the constructions and expansions that are in full swing in the university hospitals in Aswan, the distinguished medical services provided by the university hospital to the patients of Aswan Governorate, and the patients of neighboring governorates in Upper Egypt, and the therapeutic role of the brothers in Sudan in light of the severe crisis due to the war that the country is exposed to.
For his part, Dr. Ashraf Mebed added that the meeting dealt with the establishment of a specialized clinic at the University Hospital in Aswan for non-communicable diseases under the supervision of the World Health Organization.
