Aswan University Launches the 7th Edition of the Largest Student Event in Upper Egypt: “UEA7” Coinciding with the 3rd Young Researchers Conference under the Slogan: “Upper Egypt at the Heart of the Event”

Aswan University has launched the largest student event in Upper Egypt, “Upper Egypt in Action – UEA7,” under the inspiring slogan “Upper Egypt at the Heart of the Event.” The event was held at the university’s Sahari campus, with broad participation from students, researchers, university leaders, and several companies based in Aswan.

The event was held under the generous patronage of Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat, Acting President of the University, and was attended by Engineer Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor of Aswan, representing Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan. The event was also supervised by Prof. Mohamed Abdelaziz Mehallal, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and attended by Prof. Ashraf Imam, Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development, Prof. Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, along with several faculty deans and guests from universities in Upper Egypt. The event served as a unique platform merging student creativity with academic excellence, reinforcing the university’s role in promoting innovation and intellectual leadership.

The event returned after a two-year hiatus with unprecedented momentum, bringing together in its seventh edition dynamic student activities and the third edition of the Young Researchers Conference, held in perfect synchrony to reflect the fusion of thought and innovation at the heart of the South.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat emphasized that Aswan University aims through this significant event to foster an environment that stimulates creativity and critical thinking, bringing together students and researchers from all university faculties and opening new horizons for interaction and development.

Eng. Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor of Aswan, highlighted the state’s keen interest in youth, innovation, and skill development through student activities, noting that the university is a hub of expertise and maintains a strong partnership with the Aswan Governorate, especially in the field of climate change.

Prof. Mohamed Abdelaziz Mohellil noted that the UEA7 activities are organized by the IEEE student team at Faculty of Engineering, with distinguished participation from the Nile Incubator, the Cybersecurity Activities Support Project, and strategic sponsorship from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

With support from the Innovators Fund and the Academy of Scientific Research, the event enhances integration between students and institutions that support innovation.

As part of the event, the third edition of the Young Researchers Conference was also launched, featuring over 80 research papers addressing contemporary scientific and applied issues, along with a number of specialized workshops in collaboration with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, enhancing research capabilities and academic skills among young researchers in Upper Egypt.

The event hosts around 1,000 participants from various universities and schools across the southern governorates, under the patronage of the Ministers of Higher Education, Communications, Youth and Sports, and the Governor of Aswan, reflecting substantial institutional support for this pivotal event. Prof. Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, added that the activities span two days and include a series of scientific competitions and technical workshops focusing on advanced fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and information technology, with remarkable engagement from attendees.

Dr. Ghada Abo zaid, Advisor to the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, emphasized that Aswan University continues to lead in supporting youth and achieving integration between academic education and practical application, making “Upper Egypt at the Heart of the Event” not just a slogan, but a reality embodied in every corner of the university.

It is worth mentioning that the event was sponsored by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority as a strategic partner, along with the Innovators and Talents Care Fund at the Ministry of Higher Education and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
