Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University President_ announced that today, the British Times Foundation launched the latest edition of THE Impact Ranking 2023, which is concerned with achieving the goals of sustainable development.
The result of the Ranking showed that Aswan University ranked at the top of Egyptian universities for the third year in a row. And it came among the top 200 international universities in the category 101-200.
Aswan University topped the Egyptian universities in first place, in each of the indexes of Zero hunger SDG2, the index of good health and Well-being SDG3, the index of Sustainable Cities and Communities SDG11, the index of partnerships to achieve Sustainable Development SDG17.
Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Mehalal Orabi – Vice President of Aswan University for Graduate Studies and Research and the supervisor of the Ranking Office – added that the emergence of this Ranking is a new achievement added to the achievements of Aswan University in maintaining staying on top, Whereas, Aswan University was able to reserve a place for it among the top 100 universities in both SDG17 & SDG11.
It is worth noting that Aswan University has achieved the following positions:
–It ranked (57th) worldwide in the Partnerships for the Goals Index to Achieve Sustainable Development (SDG17)
-It ranked (64th) worldwide in Sustainable Cities and Communities Index (SDG11).
– It ranked (101-200) worldwide in Zero Hunger Index (SDG2).
-It ranked (301-400) worldwide in Good Health and Well-Being Index (SDG3).
-It Ranked (201-300) worldwide in Climate Action Index (SDG13).
-It ranked (401-600) worldwide in No poverty index (SDG1).
-It ranked (401-600) worldwide in Quality Education index (SDG4).
-It ranked (401-600) worldwide in Gender Equality index (SDG5).
-It ranked (401–600) worldwide in Affordable and Clean energy index (SDG7).
–It ranked (401-600) in the Reduced Inequalities Index (SDG10).
For his part, Dr. Orabi explained; That Aswan University has achieved a commendable new Ranking added to its outstanding ranking record, although it reflects a slight decrease compared to the past two years. However, in light of the intensification of global competition and the increase in the number of universities classified to nearly 1,600 universities worldwide. Aswan University has maintained its leadership among Egyptian universities and is also among the top 200 international universities in the 101-200 category. And it came as the third best African university.
Orabi expressed his pride in this achievement. He emphasized that Aswan University’s success in the Times Sustainable Development rankings is a testament to our dedication to sustainability and effective implementation of sustainable development goals. This achievement would not have been possible without the efforts of all university students, and the fruitful and constructive cooperation between all individuals in the university, along with the invaluable support and guidance of the President of the University, its leaders, Academic staff, employees, and all affiliates of Aswan University.
As we celebrate these extraordinary achievements today, we remain committed to addressing any identified weaknesses, while working to mitigate potential threats to ensure continuous improvement.
