As part of Aswan University’s strategy to strengthen its developmental role and connect scientific research with the needs of agricultural development, Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat, President of the University, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Horticultural Crops Production and Marketing Unit. The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed Abdelaziz Mehlal, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Ashraf Emam, Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development; Prof. Ahmed Ghalab, former President of the University; Prof. Mohamed Abu El-Leil, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources; Prof. Mohamed Gabr, Professor of Environment Sciences; Dr. Tarek Radwan, Executive Director of the Unit; and several members of the Board.
During the meeting, the final preparations for the Second Aswan University Agricultural Exhibition, scheduled to be held next November, were discussed. Participants reviewed plans to further develop the exhibition into an integrated scientific and economic platform that brings together agricultural innovation, horticultural products, and investment opportunities, thereby supporting the agricultural sector in Aswan Governorate and Upper Egypt.
Prof. Loai Saad El-Deen Nasrat emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with local community institutions and the private sector to ensure effective participation in organizing the exhibition. This achieves integration between academic expertise and practical applications, and contributes to marketing agricultural products and creating new opportunities for investment and development.
The meeting also addressed the future vision for the exhibition’s second edition, which aims to expand participation and strengthen engagement with the African continent by establishing partnerships with African agricultural institutions and organizations. This initiative is expected to reinforce Aswan’s position as Egypt’s gateway to Africa and promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge in agricultural and environmental fields.
The President of Aswan University explained that the university is working to develop the agricultural exhibition into a leading annual event that combines scientific research, practical application, and agricultural investment, thereby enhancing the university’s role in serving the community and achieving sustainable development goals.
